I have a bunch of 240p music videos, and they don't look too awful in Quicktime. I tried 480, but it was loading too slowly.
Don't rely on QuickTime - it's so outlcassed by other players on Tiger and Leopard. Look for VLC, Coreplayer, XBMC, MPlayer and FFPlay (within PPCMC7)

Switching to Tiger will open the door on many more software possibilities :)

It seems like I have to update it to 10.4.11. I managed to install 10.4.6. Is 10.4.11 the last update on the page that was posted? I have Tiger on it but some of the apps are telling me to go higher.

10.4.11 is the last minor OS update released for Tiger. There are additional updates for e.g. AirPort, Java, QuickTime and Security Updates that come after 10.4.11. Assuming “Software Update” (from the Apple menu) still works and you’re connected to the internet, just keep running it until it says that no further updates are available.

I mean I will have to install it from a website. Software Update doesn’t work at all.

How do u get it from the Apple website? I went on and emailed it to myself and I can’t find the download link. Maybe it’s cause I’m on my phone.

Uhm…you click on the graphic that says 'Download'.

You're going to want to do this with a computer - not a phone. I would assume you'd do it on this Mac. Even Safari should let you access the download.

As a heads-up I’m not seeing the “Download” graphic either because NoScript is doing its job.
Yeah, Apple's in my uMatrix approved list.

This is one of the reasons though that I keep other browsers around and do not modify them or add plugins/addons/extensions. Safari, I usually use for that stuff.

Sometimes I can tell uMatrix to approve whole websites and the browser acts as if I changed nothing. So, copy the web address and paste into an unmodified Safari.

If the download button is not showing in OP's iPhone browser then Apple is probably detecting his user agent and not showing the link. Considering it's an iPhone I'd see why this would be the case. You can get a DMG (and other files) off an iPhone easier now than in the past, but it's still a clunky procedure and might involve Macs/PCs/Devices and/or versions of OS you don't have or use.

This is strange. It should work. Just a couple of nights ago Software Update brought Tiger on my iBook from 10.4 to 10.4.11.
Also adding that Software Update should work. Installed Tiger on my B/W a few days ago (new drive) and Software Update detected and installed all dot updates (10.4.11), security updates and app updates perfectly fine.

The PPC/Intel Tiger updates are still on Apple's servers so it should work as long as your internet connection is online.

Thanks, I got it.

Know any YouTube Players and Discord Clients that work on Tiger, or how to get them to work?

None of the apps I want to work (YouView, Discord and InterWebs) lol. I am on OS 10.4.11.
InterWeb works on Tiger perfectly fine. I have it on multiple systems of mine right now.

Have you applied all security updates and are you downloading the correct version of InterWeb? There are versions for various systems (G3/G4/G5 - with or without QuartzGL).

YouView hasn't worked for years - a search of "youtube" on the forum will yield many solutions - you should install PPCMC7 as a matter of course.

Okay, thank you. I will look into that, and figure it out. I need to compile some code, right?

I got InterwebsPPC running on it, but it's slow on some pages and it loads MacRumors ok and Google, etc. It will do for now. I'm not really gonna be using it much, but it works for what I want it to, so that's all that matters.

Hi guys, I got Interwebs working, and I am happy enough with it, but how do I open/use MD5 files? Some of these extensions/programs are MD5 files, and I was wondering how to get them to run on my iBook. Am I missing something?

You don’t run them. They merely contain an MD5 checksum for another file. It allows checking if a file is 100% original (checksum matches the provided one) or has been altered in any way (checksum differs from provided one), due to e.g. a corrupted download. To check, run md5 [file] in Terminal and see if the checksum matches the one in the accompanying MD5 file.
