What about an iMac in the current white but with a smaller newer case design and a big price drop and a brushed metal iMac Pro with the same case design only faster, dual hard drives, more memory and bigger screen sizes?

I think it is a possibility that Apple could split the iMac line into two sides, Pro and consumer.

Anyone agree?

That's ugly, and they're not going to make a consumer machine with a metal case. That's reserved for the pro models.

I'd rather see that.

I like this too. Very nice mock up. Although i think they'll keep a bit of the chin to diffrentiate it from a normal monitor. The current model with half the chin cut away would be perfect. Also a height adjustable stand!

I doubt they'd drop the removable stand for something like this. VESA mounting is a big plus for the iMac line...I don't envision them doing anything to detract from that.

I thought that only the 24" is Vesa compatible?

this pic has to be fake.. it doesn't even have i-sight built-in, which is not possible

i found another bad fake

lol its looks like a big widescreen ipod

I can't see the new iMacs going to a brushed metal case, as in the past this has been reserved for the pro line. A smaller case and a price drop would be nice!

I can't see the metal iMac option either, but I do think we might see a high end black iMac because that would fit in with the Macbook colour options.

After seeing the new Macbook Pro releases I think the iMac specs are going to be very similar in comparison to graphics, memory and chipsets. I also think we might see a minor price drop as well, but I can't see Apple dropping the 17" iMac completely I think this model will become the *new* eMac/Mac Mini.

Personally i think that they are going to replace and rename the imac line, but ive got a week to think about it, hopefully the rounded aluminum comes through

any iMac changes will be reserved to making it smaller and faster...nothing else (unless leopard requires some black magic, which is unlikely as we've had the laptops recently upgraded)

if they change anything iMac, it'll be santa rosa processors, slightly cheaper, new casing...in that order

Brushed Aluminum iMac at WWDC?

ThinkSecret reports that Apple will introduce a new iMac "at or around" next week's developer's conference.

The rumor site believes that the new iMacs will incorporate the Santa Rosa chipset, much like the MacBook Pro updates from earlier this week. The 17" model is expected to be discontinued, leaving the 20" and 24" iMacs at slightly lower price points.

Finally, the new iMac's enclosure is descrived as "brushed aluminum" to "better match that of Apple's high-end systems as the company repositions the iMac as a more premium offering."

The report echos predictions originally posted at 9to5mac.com earlier this week and contrary to expectations of no iMac updates at WWDC by Appleinsider.

Brushed aluminum, no chin, would be awesome. Just a Cinema display sitting on your desk. That's a system I would find hard to resist.

Sounds good!

I have just purchased a 20" Core 2 Duo iMac (current design) and love everything about it - I love the cinema displays and think that it is a good idea for the iMac!

mabey it will look more like the current ipod nano with a flat face top and bottom and rounded edjes with the power button on on of the flat faces.

If the iMac is now a premium offering, and the mac mini is killed, ah, what's the little guy going to buy from Apple?

if apple is trying to reposition the iMac as a premium system, then should we expect prices to rise?

and, should we expect rumor rumblings of a new model positioned above the mac mini?
