Don't see it - It's not the 'Jobs way' - One design to rule them all!! The 'one' will prevail.

Personally l think the aluminum one will fail to exude elegance but that may well not rule it out if market expansion is the primary aim...

They do it with the iPod.

They do it with the Macbook

They can do it with the iMac. Besides, an aluminum iMac would look much classier than a white iMac.

I suppose they do...a 'Pro' Ally iMac would be cool - maybe add a 'technicians' access hatch at the back so they could begin infiltrating this kit into business who need to access HD and Ram easily...they could charge a little more for it and not bugger up the 'consumer' line...

£200 drop in price in UK

Does this drop in price for the 24" mean something is coming soon??

If this is any indication of what the iMac will look like, I'm in heaven!

For all of you requesting a 2nd hard drive, why not eSATA? This would leave it up to those who NEED a second HDD. Remember that Time Machine will also work with DVDs? Pretty sure I remember hearing that somewhere. Which will especially make sense when BluRay comes to the mac.

Here's my wish list:
-Slim aluminum enclosure that looks nothing like the current line (look at the iMac history - it's full of dramatic changes)
-User expandability (easy access to RAM and HDD(s)
-Articulating arm and or VESA compatibility
-1 or 2 PCIe slots (yeah right) or Express slot like MBP (Apogee Symphony!)
-FW 400(2) & 800
-4-8 USB 2.0
-eSATA 3Gb/s of course
-Gigabit Ethernet
-Wireless + Bluetooth
-External Power Supply (think about it, less heat from the machine, quieter operation, easy replacement)
-20", 24", & 30"
-backlit keyboard
-stereo line-in/out jacks with (surround capable) optical (perhaps surround will be an update to Core Audio in Leopard?)

Either way, I'm waiting until Oct. to buy for a free copy of Leopard.

My $0.02

No, I don't think there'll be an external PSU, but not an internal one either. I think it'll be integrated into the base that holds the screen up, which also decreases heat in the case, and therefore more powerful/cheaper CPU.

Down to about a week before the new iMacs are rumored to appear, and all we have is photos of the keyboard?

Not even any new specs, much less pics, of the iMacs themselves?

The rumor sites are slacking off lately, aren't they?

If they don't have anything worthwhile to report I'd rather them report nothing at all. Rumors are rumors at the end of the day, so I'm not lookng for hard facts, but nonetheless, good rumors should be based off some sort of acquired information, not just wild unfounded speculation. So as I said, if there's nothing to report, there's nothing to report. Plain and simple. Either Apple's doing a great job of keeping things under wraps or there actually will not be a new iMac released in the first week of August as you have presumed.

I get the feeling of that as well...the imac rumors have been dates...no specs...either Apple has been very well guarded or these imacs aren't coming any time until Leopard...

My real question is when is the MAC PRO update coming...there haven't even been any rumors of that at all.

That, unfortunately, may not be until Leopard's release. They may wait to release a new Mac Pro until then to take advantage of new features/optimizations in Leopard.

That being said, how does the Intel roadmap align with this timing? Perhaps Apple is waiting for a new architecture/price drop before releasing new Mac Pros...

they just updated the man pros structure (internally anyway) with the intel release. I can't see them re designing it again.

I can't see them redesigning it either. Updating the internals though, whether it be CPU, GPU, RAM, HDD or optical drive (Blu Ray perhaps?) is definitely in the cards IMO. Again, it's just a question of when.

It's not me who has predicted iMacs next week.

I am beginning to agree with other posters that we won't see any new models until Leopard.

I'm suprised no-ones stepped forward with a ipod nano looking imac yet (photoshopped)...

well i have time to kill, maybe tomorrow :D

then that'll spark the "brushed or blasted" metal debate all over again

good times eh

Apple Store Down. It was down for maintenance this morning... could this be what we've all been waiting for?

I'd like that a lot actually. The power of the new Macbook Pro's without a screen, in a mini case.

I actually think Apple's wanted to introduce a model like a headless iMac for a long time. But, the problem is what to call it? It's a serious concern. Noone would be a "Headless iMac", nor an "i-lessMac", etc.

Jobs' knows marketing, and he's going to have his ducks in a row before they EVER introduce a higher-powered headless iMac.

Maybe what will happen is the current "Mac Mini" line will disappear, along with tis philosophy. Then, it will leave room for beefier "Mac Mini"s with the much-requested headless iMac specs.

That's what I'd expect to see.

I think Apple has to release something soon. If they wait a few months it will have been over a year since the last update, and even that was a very minor update. From a marketing point of view it looks very bad if people can see that Apple updates their flagship consumer desktop less than once a year. In just over a month (Sept 6th) it will have been a year since the iMac saw an update.
