BTO Ship to Store Delivery Times

well it is not really that amazing if the information is wrong. I can tell you I'll build you a house in one week but if I don't deliver it's really just crap
I guess, for me, it was more about my impatience as Apple didn't really mess up at all. In fact, they under promised and over delivered by getting me my laptop to me 4 days before they said they would. I think if they had missed their deadline, as a previous poster stated, I would have been pretty upset.
I think that I could have gotten it sooner had I not done the ship to store option, but an 8 day turnaround from China was pretty impressive still.
And, let me just say that those Apple Store employees were sure on the ball and as friendly/helpful as they possibly could be. The Apple Store was amazingly crowded for a Monday morning, probably no less than 100 screaming people in there. I don't know how they do it. I want to run out of that store after only being there 5 minutes. They have to stay there all day.

Finally got it... and it was well worth the wait. The MBA is amazing.

Well, I ordered on the June 28th, my credit card billed on July 2nd so I am expecting the "ready for pick up" e-mail in a day or so but the holiday might get in the way. Still certain to beat the July 11th projection.

Made a purchase monday morning (7/2). The $100 back to school gift card was available immediately. The sleeve I bought was charged the same day, and is still processing. The mba itself was charged on the 4th. They say that the sleeve will be available on the 11th, and the computer on the 13th, but I'm hoping it'll be ready sooner. I'll update when it's available.
Yeah, the estimate to have it shipped to my apartment was shorter than ship to store, but I elected to have it sent to the store so I didn't have to worry about being home for the FedEx guy.

Makes sense. Last time I had them deliver it to my work place, worked well, too. I just checked and it is on the delivery truck already. Pretty cool, I ordered the BTO on Monday (7/2), delivered on Friday, July 6 (U.S. East Coast).

I did a time machine migration from my 2011 MBA which I sold last Friday followed my an Apple software update. The only glitch I am aware of is it needs my MS Office product key which I have yet to locate.

Mine arrived at the Towson, MD store on July 9.
Ordered on the 2nd, charged on the 5th, received it on the 9th.
Unfortunately there was a defect with the keyboard and I had to send it back

Didn't notice that. I actually prefer keyboards that don't have much flex to them. One of the keys was not fastened on, and I saw that the metal brackets that it hooks into were bent and damaged. The screen also had dark bottom corners that I wasn't too bothered by, but the two things combined made it enough to just send it back.

I just did ship to store b.c I live 5 minutes from one and did not want to leave $1600 worth of product sitting on my door step, and I would not be home to claim it.
I just ordered mine from apple.com and paid the $14 to ship it 2-3 days to my home address because I just can't wait any longer.
I ordered mine on monday the 9th, paid the $14 to expedite, they said delivered 13-17. Here we are Thursday the 12th, full 3 days later and it was still "processing". Not even preparing to ship, not shipped, certainly not delivered any time soon.

I ended up cancelling. Considering getting a base, non-BTO instead. Can just run down to the store and pick it up rather than wait weeks. Base models seem to hold their value better.

It takes them up to 3 days to put it together before its shipped. Once it's shipped with expedited shipping, it doesn't take very long for it to reach you. It's also very possible that the status takes some time to update. You would have received it on or before the 17th, barring any extreme circumstances. A few posters around here have expressed concern when the tracking info shows their package still in another country with only 1 day to go, but from what I've seen they've all arrived on time.
In a couple years from now, I can't imagine the base model holding its value better than one with upgraded RAM. Applications and Operating Systems are using more and more memory every year.
