If its so lackluster, why will it have better sales than the A53 ... (which is not imho a better phone, it's a completely different phone, with the only slight similarity being price).

The numbers DO speak for themselves, the SE2022 will still be one of the top 10 selling phones by year end based on the revised quoted sales figures (you posted). The A53?, maybe, maybe not.

Are you really that pissed that Apple gave some of us what we need while others still can still pay a higher price for the 11 / 12 / 13 if they want face ID and edge to edge screen? Seriously Why?

I just don't understand the absolute HATE you have for this device.
It's not me who hates the device, it's majority of iPhone users that hate this device. That's why production has been slashed in order to make more 13's(the phone that people actually want} The SE was built to a price point that's why it's suck a lackuster phone. The screen sucks, the camera sucks. the battery life sucks etc.

You're the one who needs to read. it's not just about the sales.90% all the reviews and comparisons say the same thing. The A53 is the better phone. The SE is a lackluster phone and there are better options to spend your money on than the SE. You're better off with an 11,12 or a 13. That's why the SE production has been slashed in order TO INCREASE PRODUCTION OF THE 13. Nobody wants a budget iPhone with such poor specs in 2022. The numbers speak for themselves. It's a lackluster phone that hardly nobody wants.
I really don't understand the whole "oh yeah, well my dad can beat up your dad!" schoolyard mentality...at least not in the 21st century. Just goes to show that the theory of evolution is flawed. We haven't evolved beyond that.

Samsung's A series phones are outstanding deals. I've owned a few. Apple's SE series are great deals too. Sure, spec-junkies will dismiss them, but the SE is not intended for them. I just switched from an A20 to the 2020 SE... and in 2 years, I'll probably switch to another A series.

But then again, I don't live and breathe on my phone. That could be why I think the SE is a great value.

For those who want a "lackluster" phone, there are some deals to be had...

"The screen feels cramped; tough to type. No OLED, no high screen refresh rate, no two-day battery life, unlike some peers. Lack of a Night mode in the camera means low-light images aren't great." LACKLUSTER is an understatement.

The minority dislike this device (if the numbers from your blogs are to be believed).

Not everyone wants to change their workflow when doing it poses more issues than it solves.

There's a reason why it's the least selling iphone. Majority of the users want something that doesn't have a dated camera and screen. The phone is so cheap that all 3 of my Apple watches cost more than that lackluster mess. If you have an SE, If you want to take decent photos while traveling or on vacation, you are forced to carry an additional camera just to get decent photos. Most consumers arent' carrying both. That's part of the reason why it's one of the poorest selling iPhones. The SE is cheap for a reason, IT"S BECAUSE IT IS CHEAP.

iPhone SE vs. iPhone 13 mini: the Verdict

The iPhone 13 mini is superior to the iPhone SE in pretty much every way, including ways other than the "big" ones that I've highlighted above. For example, it has a brighter and better display, it comes with more base storage, and comes with Apple's U1 chip (which allows it to do things like more seamlessly hand-off music to a HomePod mini speaker). But again, the iPhone 13 mini is also almost twice as expensive.

There is absolutely no reason to get the SE over the mini. If you buy the SE, it's not that you're buying it because it is a great phone, you are simpley buying JUST BECAUSE IT IS CHEAP. You have to sacrifice too much just to get a cheap phone.

Folks... don't bother. DEman isn't really listening, and hasn't been throughout this entire thread.

Well over half of his post history in this entire forum is now feverishly devoted to convincing people that the SE is somehow (ahem) already a total failure. He refused to even try to explain why he cares so much about this issue, when I directly asked him that earlier in this thread. All he has done here is continue spouting his apparently firmly ingrained opinion as if it were an already proven fact, backing it with articles which he seems to think somehow support his confirmation bias and ignoring anything in those articles or in this thread which gets in the way of his argument.

I enjoy a good intellectually stimulating debate as much as anyone... but unfortunately, this thread isn't an actual debate; it's a farce. I'm increasingly convinced that he's not actually trying to convince anyone of anything; he just wants to see how many negative reactions he can get out of people over a truly meaningless conversation -- that is to say, he's just trolling the whole lot of us and laughing all the while.

Even if that speculation is somehow incorrect and he actually thinks he has good intentions... it's just not worth the time and energy to try to convince him of anything.

Most of the reviews echo what I have been stating. In 2022 the SE is a lackluster offering. There are better options from Apple and Android this is not up for debate. You all are letting your emotions get in the why. The fact is that too many sacrifices were made to get to this price point. To own an SE, you miss out on the total iPhone experience and if that's the case, you'd be better off with Android. Not really worried about your personal feelings. THOSE ARE JUST THE FACTS.

Apple's newly updated iPhone SE, launched on Wednesday, doesn't come equipped with the company's custom U1 Ultra Wideband chip that debuted with iPhone 11 last year.

The U1 chip, which first appeared in the iPhone 11 lineup, offers additional spatial awareness and ultra-precise location tracking capabilities to devices that have it. Because of those features, it's thought to be closely related to upcoming products like AirTags."

Apple's 2022 iPhone SE Packs a New A15 Bionic Chip but Does Not Include MagSafe Nor Faster Wireless Charging

Apple's lineup has been onboard the MagSafe bandwagon ever since the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro came out in 2020. But only the iPhone SE was left in the dark since it wasn't updated at the time with new features."

I rest my case.

"The screen feels cramped; tough to type. No OLED, no high screen refresh rate, no two-day battery life, unlike some peers. Lack of a Night mode in the camera means low-light images aren't great." Not my opinion, just simply THE FACTS. Your case is a moot point.

I rest my case.
"But the iPhone 11 does have other extras that photographers might appreciate compared to the iPhone SE. The biggest of them is a dual-lens camera that includes a standard lens and an ultrawide lens, meaning you can capture scenes with a much broader field of view than the iPhone SE."

zarmanto and sracer nailed it. Lots of wasted energy responding to this stuff. The market place is a glorious thing. There are people that will love the SE and find it to be a great value. Others might find it dated and select a different phone. Apple will adjust production (as it has) to meet demand. If demand slips sufficiently, Apple will discontinue the SE. If it continues to be profitable to make the SE, Apple will do so.

Buy it if you like it. Pass if you don't. No reason to get worked up about this.

BTW - I own a 2020 SE and it does everything I need and more. Paid $250 or $200 (can't remember) back in 2020 during launch on a special deal at WalMart. Great value.

I prefer to stick with the Apple ecosystem, so this comparison to the budget Android phone is kind of pointless for me. I suspect that I am not alone.

The people that like the SE is a very small group. That's the reason why production has already been slashed in order to increase production of the 13. 90%of the reviews state there are better options. This isn't 2020 anymore. In 2022 the SE is a cheap lackluster phone that forces you to miss out on the full iphone experience. Too many corners were cut to get to that point. With all of that being said,I will most likely be ordering 2 for my niece and nephew who are 8 and 9 years old. They make good phones for kids as they are cheap to replace if they get broken. Not a good phone for an adult, but great for kidd with a limited income.

Wait....what? After all of your posts running down the SE, you are going to buy two of them. That's hilarious!

I just hope you will check with the parents. These are 2nd and 3rd graders, and the parents should make the decision about putting a smartphone in their hands. You might not think much of the SE, but it can basically do everything the flagship iPhone can do in terms of running apps and accessing the web.

Yes,I already checked with their mother after they asked me. 2 phones for less than $1k. You can't beat that. If they get broken,it'll be cheap to replace. They're excellent phones for small children, but it stops there. They're lackluster at best. Not like I would ever buy one for personal use. I don't understand why any adult would to be honest.

What makes it unsuitable for an adult? I have an SE and it meets all of my needs. My adult son and daughter have SEs, and it meets their needs. My son is a research analyst (double major Econ and Math). My daughter is finishing grad school and works in health care consulting. My brother-in-law has an SE, and he is a hedge fund manager. I can assure you that he can afford to buy whatever he wants. Frankly, as can I and my adult children.

Maybe you need to rethink what adults do with their time and money.

"Sure, the iPhone SE 3 is much more powerful and costs a little less, but it's also very unbalanced. Granted, the design is a classic, but we're way past the point of pretending that it's not utterly obsolete."

KEYWORD....OBSOLETE.

Okay, I ordered the Samsung Galaxy A53. I will let you guys know how it goes after I receive it. If I get any lag, it will be going back that day. I considered waiting for the upcoming Pixel 6A, but no facial recognition and issues with the on-screen fingerprint reader with last year's Pixel models, which 6A is based on, was a deal breaker. Pixel seems to still be in beta-test stage.

I think "obsolete" is a poor choice of words and hyperbolic. Automobiles made the horse and buggy obsolete as a form of transportation. Aircraft carriers made battle ships obsolete during the War in the Pacific (WW2). The iPhone SE can run all of the same apps and operating system as the top of the line iPhone. It simply does so in a classic form factor using Touch ID, which some people prefer. This does not prevent the SE from being perfectly functional and useable as a smartphone that works seamlessly in the Apple ecosystem.

The iPhone 6 design is quite long in the tooth, but it's not obsolete. I'm more of a fan of the 4/5 design which the 12 brought back, but the 6 design still works perfectly fine.

I bought the SE 3 its a good phone but the 4.7-inch display is the only negative for me. The outdated design doesn't matter to me but the SE should have a 6.1-inch display

It seems to me the SE buyers (of which I have 7 family members of mine an friends) care more about retaining touchID than anything else.

I think the SE 3 still looks good, with high end materials, and its ergonomics remain excellent.

Correct. The SE screen can be operated one handed, thumb reaches all four corners, and has the superior TouchID and Home button.

People who want a huge phone are probably trying to get a 3-in-1 :- phone+tablet+personal computer
