Kinda wierd comparison, the A53 is a much larger phone.
Spec wise the A53 beats the Se hands down, so unless you absolutely want a smaller phone the A53 wins there.

OS is imho simular and depends on personal preference.

Support is on par, samsung getting 5 years, SE probably longer (but with the smaller battery will require investing in a new battery a few years in).

Price: A53 1/5th ceaper then the SE

given what the comp are doing at this price point it is a shame apple have delivered what they have here. they can get away with it as it runs iOS and iMessage so people will still buy it. people buying these phones aren't bothered about the greatest tech they want an iPhone basically.
Yes, there is a segment that Apple targets where there’s no competition, which are people that simply wants an iPhone, or a phone with Apple’s logo on it. The spec is irrelevant and Apple putting the A15 is for their own benefit (cost saving and maintaining long shelf life).

Apple can get away easily with this in the US market since there really isn’t that heavy competition in the US on the mid range and lower. There are only Apple, Samsung, and maybe Motorola. LG is already out. Thus Apple had no problem increasing the price at the same time as well.

The problem is in international markets where the SE is not $430, but more like $600. And the competition is much fierce from the Chinese. Apple doing this is basically to tell people just to get the 11 or 12 since you are already spending that much money anyway.

In my country, the direct competition for the SE is not the A53. It’s the S21 FE, with flagship SoC and triple lens camera. People buying the SE are truly people who just want an iPhone at cheapest price no matter what.

I would argue that the budget consumer cares much more about a larger screen than about the latest chip.

Perhaps in the future once Apple releases an SE with the design of the XR, then it would be a much more interesting comparison.
Exactly this, and this comment from MR was really biased. Almost no one needs a mobile phone with a chip that could technically power a computer... when it comes to mobile apps, browsing, etc., bet you can't tell the difference in power and speed between the two phones in real world use. Editing a video sure.... but most people aren't doing that on a phone anyway.

True. Apple putting the A15 in the SE is for the benefit of Apple as it costs them less than putting 5G modem into the lesser chip. It saves Apple money by simply using the in volume A15.

Every phone mentioned in this article, the iPhone SE outsold. Interesting that it doesn’t talk sales numbers LOL. That one blogger’s incorrect opinion is irrelevant…
True, because Apple is a much more desirable brand. At any given time, People would prefer the Apple brand more than any other brand. That Apple logo carries most of the heavy lifting in attracting people.

The iPhone SE 2022 hasn't outsold anything so stop with the lies. There's a reason why it's production has been cut LMAO. The SE is trash. Better off getting an iPhone 13 Mini

with all of that being said, the SE is not meeting expectations.so Apple has slashed production. Feel free to spin it any way that you want. It still doesn't change the fact.
I'm not spinning anything; nothing in my assertion about the SE being designed for change-averse, feature-uninterested consumers says it's going to sell well, or even that it's a good product. It could very well be a barely-good-enough product for a small-and-shrinking target market. Even if it is a good device, I would still expect that market to shrink steadily.

If you assume almost no new user wants the outdated form factor, then your entire market is existing users with broken phones. And on top of that, budget-conscious purchasers who in the past might have bought the SE because it was the cheapest iPhone and good enough now have better options in either a slightly-more-expensive iPhone 11 or a used iPhone that's both cheaper than the SE and better every way except CPU and cell modem.

Basically, I know the people who this phone is designed for, and I'm really glad it exists for them, but they're a dying breed (literally--most, I expect, are older folks) so it's no doubt only a matter of time before it's no longer economically viable to keep something in the lineup for them. It wouldn't be at all surprising to me if this is the final SE iteration, at least of its type.

1. Firstly It's not even available in every country yet.
2. Second It's only been out a month
3. Production has been primarily cut due to pulling out of Russia (15% Apple marketshare) and China being in a flux of perpetual lockdowns.

Yes pre-orders are probably down as well due to the close pricing of the iP11 (I can see the 11 being dropped in Oct) However, over the course it's total production run over 2+- years it'll sell plenty to be VERY profitable for Apple. There will be plenty of people over the next couple of years with an IP7/8/SE2020 that will upgrade to this.

No, the IP13 mini is not "better" for everyone. Nor is an edge to edge screen or face ID necessary for a better experience for everyone.

It's not going to be a failure, just not as successful as the 13

It's a failure. That's why APPLE HAS INCREASED PRODUCTION of the 13. Your opinion means very little, the numbers says otherwise.

"
Apple has reportedly increased the number of iPhone 13 orders, possibly due to a lack of demand for smaller smartphones."

Calling a it failure is an understatement. Other than the A15, the rest of the phone is trash.

"But the 2022 iPhone SE isn’t breaking any records. As noted by 9to5Mac, the device never sold out on Apple’s website, which is rare for any iPhone. Additionally, both Ming-Chi Kuo and Nikkei Asia report that Apple will reduce iPhone SE production by around 20%, likely due to low demand."

It doesn't need to break any records to be a success (financially).

The A53 is unlikely to break any either.

Investors take a more cautious view on consumer spending as iPhone SE doesn't get as much demand as expected"

I value the so investors opinions more than yours. All of the data is waaaaay different than your opinion. You're only one person. What you say holds very little weight.

The SE barely factors into the article.
JP Morgan analyst Samik Chatterjee has stated in an investor note that the company will take a more cautious position because of the waning demand in the electronics segment.
Every electronics company is in the same boat.
His estimations on specifically the iPhone SE now stand at 24 million units, while his previous estimation was at 30 million.
This is more than Samsung will ship of ANY of their phones and will STILL likely be in the top 10 selling phones globally by the end of 2022.

Repeat: Not a failure, by any means. At worst not as successful as they hoped.

No it won't stop with the speculation and deflection. In the current time and state, the SE is a FAILURE. Why don't you tell us about Santa Claus and the easter bunny while you're at it. The hardware as lackluster the say the least. The buying public agrees and they are spending their money elsewhere. There's strength in numbers and you single opinion means absolutely nothing.

There will be 24 million other opinions, who disagree with you (according to the article YOU posted).

He was being generous. By then it will most likely be down to less than that. Regardless of how many units is sells. nothing takes away from the fact that its a lackluster phone. People have already proven that by spending their monye elsewhere. The phone has too many shortcomings to offset it's cheap price. You get what you pay for and in the SE's case, you don't even get that. Nobody care about a budget iiPhone with the specs from over a half decade ago.Actually, nobody care about budget iPhone's. Budget phones usually occupy Android's space.

Read your own articles ... 25-20 million in estimated sales in 2022, which means probably 30-35 million over its appx 2 year cycle.

And BTW that site is pure advertising spam with “facts” regurgitated from the same source as just about every other article.

If no-one wanted it, it wouldn't sell, but it will. All articles show similar, healthy sales figures despite you wanting everyone to hate it for what it is.

Depends on the device, I wouldnt want an SE if you gave it to mee for example.

You're the one who needs to read. it's not just about the sales.90% all the reviews and comparisons say the same thing. The A53 is the better phone. The SE is a lackluster phone and there are better options to spend your money on than the SE. You're better off with an 11,12 or a 13. That's why the SE production has been slashed in order TO INCREASE PRODUCTION OF THE 13. Nobody wants a budget iPhone with such poor specs in 2022. The numbers speak for themselves. It's a lackluster phone that hardly nobody wants.

If its so lackluster, why will it have better sales than the A53 ... (which is not imho a better phone, it's a completely different phone, with the only slight similarity being price).

The numbers DO speak for themselves, the SE2022 will still be one of the top 10 selling phones by year end based on the revised quoted sales figures (you posted). The A53?, maybe, maybe not.

Are you really that pissed that Apple gave some of us what we need while others still can still pay a higher price for the 11 / 12 / 13 if they want face ID and edge to edge screen? Seriously Why?

I just don't understand the absolute HATE you have for this device.
