Because of TM issues it's marketed as Czechvar, here in Canada.

So, according to AdAge, it's a temporary patriotic play through the Olympics and into the election. Not as bad as I thought:

You have this wave of patriotism that is going to go up and down throughout the summertime. And we found with Budweiser such a beautiful angle to play on that sentiment.

Of course if they wanted to stir up patriotism, they should've rebranded thus (as one Michigan craft brewer cheekily suggested):

My daughters have introduced me to quite a few craft beers over the past few years. My current favorite is Allagash White, but only if it's on tap. Phenomenal IMHO.

I guess it has to do with the trademark dispute of Anheuser–Busch with European beer companies, in particular Budweiser Budvar Brewery, over the trademark rights to the name "Budweiser"....

Nothing says civic responsibility like promoting nationalism on an alcoholic beverage ( I use the term beverage loosely).
