I ended up ordering the thinnest aluminum bumper from that list that I could find on eBay. It'll arrive Nov 3rd, 3 days before I can even preorder my 12 Pro Max haha :)

After hearing how bad the Apple Clear Magsafe case is, I'm probably going to try to rock bumper + sock/sleeve (saw some cute ones on Etsy. Sock/sleeve for transport otherwise just bumper case around the house/office (well.. when I go back to the office).

I thought more about using a metal bumper but I think it would add a few oz of weight and would the metal bumper interfere with the 5G antenna. For the iPhone 12 Pro Max adding more weight would not be great as it is pretty heavy already.

When you get the bumper please post some pictures and I would like to hear your thoughts on it after you install it.

I got the rhinoshield for my 12pro (bumper only without the backplate), I’ll take a pic in a little bit with it. It is definitely bulkier than I like. I got the same response from Thanotech when I emailed them. And ESR was not planning on making bumpers for the 12 Line.

I am expecting the first of the bumper cases to arrive this week so I will try and post some pics with it lovely wrapped around my 11 pro max to give you an idea.
If they turn out to be rubbish then what I might do is order the Apple sleeve when it becomes available, go caseless when using the phone and just use the sleeve to carry the phone around and charge it using MagSafe

Ok here are the pictures with the rhinoshield bumper. Because the camera sticks out so far it’s a bit weird feeling with it being raised so much in the back. But once the car is on it doesn’t feel as bulky as I thought it would.

Nice but quite thick. Having said that it is important to protect the sides because my understanding is they can get scratched up quite easily on the new pro phones

When did you order and how long did it take to get? I’m in Canad.

Looks pretty good. I thought they’re still on preorder and not shipping yet.

I ordered it last week, but they didn’t ship it until Thursday morning from Taiwan (Taiwan-time). I got it Friday afternoon. I don’t know if the fast shipping was due to me pre-ordering it or what. I was shocked at how fast I got it once shipped.

They just shipped it Thursday! I even bought a cheap case on Amazon because I wasn’t expecting it for a while, but nope, got it the next day.

It took only 1 day to get from Taiwan to Canada? That’s lightning fast!

Did you pay extra for expedited shipping?

I really like their modular case which lets you use it in bumper mode or add a back plate if you want to. But shipping times to Australia is very long.

I just ordered a RhinoShield Mod NX. I've never used one before but I'm looking forward to it. They are available for pre-order and shipping end of October. No exact date.
Will you post an update? I've been thinking about getting one too but I want to know with the cameras if it still protects the way it did in the iPhone 4 days...

Did any of you get any other cases yet? I'd love to see some pics. At this point I'm still learning towards Rhinoshield.

OK so the first of my bumper cases has arrived. Cheap at £6.99. Build quality isn't up to much and doesn't really look like the photos posted on eBay which incidentally are the same photos that some of you guys have posted in previous posts above. Its plastic, not metal. The inside seems to be either a very hard rubber or plastic but i dont think it would scratch the sides of the phone. I have posted pics below with my 11 Pro Max to give you an idea of size.
I am waiting for the others now to see if they are the same or different quality. It is relatively slim and a lot slimmer than the Rhino

Interesting look. How does it feel in your hand with the corners jutting out like that? And sliding in and out of pockets?

Those corners are to raise the phone so that the camera is raised off the surface. They are quite prominent though, in fact too prominent and it would look better if they weren't there. They do flex so no issues sliding in and out of pockets. I suspect that the others on order may be the same with the exception of this one which is due to arrive next week

Just got mine. It’s thicker and bulkier than I expected. The material also feels and looks cheap. Not grippy at all. The rounded profile kind of destroys the flat edge aesthetic of the iPhone 12. The buttons are pretty good though, and offer a nice tactile feel.

They look kinda flat in the pics posted above. Are they not?
