Business Owners, Does This Sound Suspicious?

And what would "joining him" entail, on your part?

Getting the deal done. Shipping product. And why would we go to jail? We'd be the ones getting scammed. Feds would be going after the scammers, and we already have the identity of one of them.

Seriously, are you for ********* real?

I'm genuinely lost for words. I can't believe any human being can be as willingly, stubbornly, ignorantly naive as you are right now. I'm both furious and disbelieving right now.

Please, keep this thread updated with how the deal goes.

Shrink, may I add that your signature of "Two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe. -- Albert Einstein" has never been more relevant than it has right now. :D

 the top part is priceless!

Sounds like it could be money laundering, smuggling (not just for drugs anymore), customs fraud, tax evasion (because I'm sure your brother was planning on paying taxes on the money he makes, right?)

When this is such an obvious scam, it's going to be tough to claim ignorance and you're going to look like an accessory to a crime. It's like if a buddy asked you to give him a ride to the bank and wait in the car while he makes a withdrawal, while he's carrying a gun and wearing a ski mask. Sure, you can tell the cops that you had no idea he was going to rob the bank and thought he was just getting some cash out of his account at the ATM, but you're going to be charged as an accessory to bank robbery because you're the getaway driver.

On re-reading this thread, I'm feeling a lot like...

Apple is sending 8 pallets of goods to 4 different addresses here in the US, as only two pallets are allowed per residential address. UPS will come by and pick up the packages and ship internationally to Poland. It'll hopefully clear customs and the money clears fully at that point, I believe.

So when do they arrive? This is pretty exciting; can you post a pic of the pallets? I've never seen a pallet of Apple products before!

What could possibly go wrong?

I don't know when they arrive. Also, my compensation if I enter the deal is 50% of profits, but also paying 50% of fees. There's still a lot of work to be done.

You know what, just do it. Go ahead with it. You're evidently waiting for one person to say that this is legit, so you can justify this get-rich-quick scheme to yourself.

Just go ahead with it and update this thread when you've lost everything.

OP sounds pretty entrepreneurial. Why not see if it pays off? Could be the start of something awesome

Totally kidding. This is such an obvious ripoff. In the event it is legit, there are too many red flags to warrant proceeding. However, you live by doing and he seems intent on wanting to so it

No. I'm simply getting opinions. My brother is the stubborn one. I'm listening.

These aren't opinions of ours, you don't need to be 'listening'. We're not trying to persuade you one way or another.

All you need is an ounce, a hint, a trickle of common sense and you'll realise this is a scam. If neither you nor your 'brother' can grasp that, then there's simply no point in continuing this.

The operative words in most court cases that deal with typical schemes/scams/etc. are:

"Court finds defendants jointly and severally liable for disgorgement and prejudgment interest award in xxxx scheme case"

aka, they generally try to go after everyone for everything until they cough up enough to pay for the damages.

Your liability is for the profit on the gray market goods. And likely they will not include your payment (any expenses) in the calculation of profit, simply the purchase price in one spot and the sales price at the other.

If you are the only one in the US. I'd run the other way, quick.

There should be no "if". By saying "if I enter the deal", you're leaving the possibility that you might still enter this deal. If you are still thinking about it after 4 pages of posts telling you to stay far away, you are obviously not listening.

I'm familiar with scams. I dealt with numerous on Craigslist and know red flags. I haven't noticed one until posting here.

Have they been ordered? Are they shipped? What is the next move to get this deal going?

Wait! This is the first we've heard of fees! Can you elaborate on those (how much, how they are paid, etc.)?

It appears that your familiarity with scams is just a teeny bit lacking. I'll make a deal with you...if this is NOT a scam, I will eat, part by part, my much beloved MBP.

However, if it is a scam, you must promise to continue posting from your prison cell...assuming that you can get a signal. I'll want to know how your cell mate, Big Butch, is treating you.

Dude,
Don't listen to the haters. They are just jealous that they can't get in on your sweet deal of shipping grey market Apple products to former East European countries at no risk.

Jealous!

Ignore them. Go full hog in.

Some lessons are apparenly only learned by personal experience. Enjoy your massive profits!

Seriously... I feel like I'm reading the P-p-p-p-p-p-owerbook story all over again. But this time, the person holding the short end of the stick is Squilly.

*gets popcorn out and resumes munching*

No, no, we need 220V adapters.
