OK, a Mac mini server is a great idea, but a grand? Really? I could build a Linux box with twice the horsepower easily for that.

And as far as I know they didn’t improve Mac OS X Server for home media sharing or anything like that. Schiller says it’s for enthusiasts, but I wouldn’t know the first thing about configuring OS X Server. Last time I used it (10.3 Server), it was fairly complicated.

Disappointed that the AppleTV didn't get an update, yet, but happy to see the Mini still kicking. I'm even intrigued at picking up one of the servers for the sake of training myself on their server software (I work in IT). Too bad the economy is still in the crapper, going to have to wait a year myself.

The official info is up on Apple's site right now (not the store, the site). Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but a Core i5 doesn't exactly seem to be that huge of a leap of a C2D, at least in raw performance. From what I've been reading, the i7 is where it's at and I'm debating if this is even a worthy upgrade from my recently purchased iMac of just a few months ago. Some tech friends are telling me no that it's not a big enough upgrade and that I wouldn't notice too much - if any - performance improvement over my 3.16 C2D.

Hopefully that quad-core Intel Core i5 chip will also show up in a new MacBook Pro 17" in November. It would make a nice Xmas present to myself.

The new iMac is nicer looking in my eyes than the old model. The dimensions are more aesthetically pleasing, the chin is about the right side and the edge to edge glass is very nice.

ha ha! I now have a macbook collector's edition. :D

I need to see the specs on this thing. I can't tell if it got thinner.

I see they rounded the corners on that thing... somebody must've been running with their macbook and poked somebody's eye out.

Core i7 in the high-end 27” iMac. I think I’m going to faint. :p

I hope Business Week got it wrong and the i7 starts at $1999, not the i5 model.

they should really show reflections in these pictures of the iMac to be accurate.

They seem to be a new feature.

i might go for the mouse to satisfy my mac addiction for a while.........

What do you think the stats of the quad-core will be stacked up against the 2.66 Quad in the Mac Pro. I just bought a Mac Pro yesterday and am still very happy with my purchase because of the versatility.

But I am just wondering?
