If ipad 5 use ipad mini materials and scuff easy, i might not upgrade.
I've had an iPad Mini (Black/Graphite) since they first shipped and I don't see where it's scuffing easily.

Remember people who have issues with stuff tend to whine loudly and often on the net. I don't think the scuffing issue is anywhere like people are making it out to be.

Apple is loosing their touch. First we get a horribly designed iphone 5 ( a step down in looks from the 4s) now we are going to get a larger iPad Mini!!!!???

I want the iPad 5 to look just like the iPad 3/4 but with updated internals. It's already perfect, why make it thinner and lighter? The iPhone 5 feels too light and cheap. I don't want that feeling in the iPad 5!!

Jesus Christ!!!!

What the hell are you complaining about then get an iPad 4. Duh. Its only a few months old. All this means nothing unless devs take advantage like the amazing Real Racing 3. A bad example is Gameloft just "accidentally" flipped the retina switch on Modern Combat 4 making it horribly choppy instead of optimizing it for the device. There are still some lazy devs out there that even quad core graphics cant help......

So the OP wants a big, heavy tablet?

That's gotta be one of the dumbest things I've ever heard in my life.

I happen to think its perfect just the way it is, just like the 4S was.

Not everyone always wants a new design. The iPad 3/4 design is perfect, so why not update it with new internals again???

The iPad Mini is and was a very stupid decision.

And those saying, "well don't buy it" well some of us are in need of an upgrade and why should we be left out of the latest and greatest all because it MIGHT have a bad design?

The iPad 3/4 design is perfect...

False.

The iPad 3/4 design is perfect FOR YOU. I went out and got the 3 (my first iPad ever) because my wife loved her 2 and wanted me to get an iPad so we could be more alike in the things we have. So I went out and got it. 2 months later the iPad 4 comes out and made me have angina. But that's neither here nor there. The point I wanted to make was that I didn't think the iPad 3 design was perfect. It was a little heavy for long term use and the bezel is as thick as all get out, which I didn't like. But oh well.

Then the mini comes out and my VERY FIRST thought is: "I hope the iPad 5 has the same design!".

So yeah, um, your statement is patently false and you should retract it immediately.

Because some of us want the latest specs, just not a mini design. They need to keep the current design and update the internals.

If they don't, then those of us who want to upgrade are forced on the new design.

As of lately, Apple's new designs are not innovating and the ip5 was a huge step down from the 4s. Just wish the 4S had LTE.

If they don't update it then those of us who want to upgrade are forced to keep the old design

As of lately, Apple's new designs are so innovative and the ip5 was huge step up from the 4s. Thank god the 5 has LTE.

Retract my my statement... I think NOT!!! The bezel is what I love on the iPad 3 and hope they keep it just like that. I love how people think a tablet is too "heavy" wow must say a lot about you. I think its the perfect size and weight. Making everything thinner and light is not always the best idea.

The iPhone 5 design was NOT innovative at all. Its a horrible design and full of quality control problems, I will not get into here. Its way too light and feels very cheap. I used it for 3 months before just going back to my iPhone 4S. Feels amazing going back to a normal screen, instead of an awkward longer 4" display. Its nice to have a very firm, solid product again. I do miss LTE though, but thats it.

lol. The point I was trying to make was that not everyone has the same feelings regarding design as you do. Given the fact that the mini was snapped up immediately by millions shows that people, IN GENERAL, like lighter and thinner.

Are there going to be some that hate the redesign of the iPad 5+? Yes. Does Apple care? If they do, they will try to accommodate your concerns. But something tells me they don't.

So it seems like you have a decision to make. Either stay with the iPad 4 and whine about how Apple is going down the toilet, or go and buy an Android tablet.

yea lets not make it thinner or lighter, lets carry this huge tablet around and burden all of us

i carry 3 iPhone, an iPod With Linea Pro Sleeve, 10 cables, a Mophie Battery Sleeve, 2 External Batteries, MacBook Pro 13" (non retina so its heavy), an iPad, and iPad Mini, with a couple other accessories needed for a demo.

when i travel i really do want devices to be lighter, especially when im in NYC where i have to do a whole bunch of walking compared to LA or anywhere else.

a pound or half pound would mean a lot.

im waiting for the lighter weight ipad 5 and when i save up some money get the rMBP

I don't think Apples lost their touch.

It just that they appear to be adrift in a sea of uncertainty. We've seen what they're capable of, but it's been too long since they've done their best work.

It seems they've been blind sided by Samsung and are rather stunned.

It's time for them to get up and get with the program. They can do it, if they regain their confidence.

Very well put and un biased.

Good point. Even current hardware has yet to be completely saturated. I'd wager that even the A5/X has a lot of un tapped potential. It took devs what? 6-7 years to eek out every last drop of power out of the pS3 and Xbox. They're not fast devices by any stretch of the imagination but with maximum optimization finally achieved look what's been accomplished with such weak hardware.

That "stupid" decision, is outselling the full size iPad,

No, It's not perfect. It's too heavy and bulky. If you are so smart, design your own! Boo hoo, left out? Buy a 4 and button it. Living in Indiana must be wrecking your ability to see common sense.

I think it needs to be reduced in weight and some size to make it more desirable. I think a thinner bezel will make the device look better.

I'm not even a mini fan either.

Maybe its just me, but I prefer smaller and lighter for handheld portables. I don't need a tablet of a phone in my pocket. I remember back when cell phones were getting smaller and smaller (anyone remember the scene from Zoolander?). Seems the trend has reversed now.

Considering the sales of the mini are likely to exceed the iPad you calling it a "Stupid decision"is,shall we say, interesting.
These boards are getting more and more like being stuck on a bus with 30 spoiled preschoolers.
I suggest a nice hot mug of get over yourself. It's time to put on your big boy pants and realize that just because you don't care for something it's not necessarily "bad"to normal people.Regardless,Apple will do what they want and all you can control is how you deal with it.Hint:doing the online equivalent of lying on the floor kicking and screaming or holding your breath 'till you turn blue is pointless and really doesn't make you look good.
I'm just very glad you have nothing to do with running Apple!

Don't you see?Everyone who feels differently about the design is WROOONGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's "perfect" only if you like big, heavy tablets. The problem is that hardly anybody likes big heavy tablets.

And the mini is blowing the larger ipad completely out of the water. The market has spoken, and they want the mini.

I agree with the OP. I just bought a iPad 4 because I fear the iPad 5 will look like the mini. I like the even bezel better. Make it even or no bezel at all.
