What about those of us who like the design of the mini and hope the iPad 5 will follow the same design. Apple need to change the design to match the mini.
If they don't, then those of us who want to upgrade are forced on to have a 3 year old design.

I dont mind the current design, but wouldn't mind a design like the mini. That design looks hnnnng. Just don't want a scuff problem.
I agree with you on the current iPad design, I think its perfect. But Apple don't care, the 2011 iMac design was perfect too, then they decided to make it thinner when there is literally no point at all. Why on earth does a desktop screen need to be half an inch thinner? Who is sat there craning the neck around there screen? NO-ONE. It looks like a satellite dish.

You talk as if they won't update the internals.
In what way was the 5 a step down from the 4S? I don't see how a stronger chassis, better screen, better cameras front and back, more RAM, higher performing CPU and GPU, and LTE is a "huge step down" from the 4S. Maybe it's just me? If thinner and lighter means "cheap feeling" to you, I'd reevaluate what feels cheap. I've played around with an iPhone 5 and it feels anything but cheap.
That's not to say I think your opinion is wrong, but I'm having a hard time seeing your point of view.
Personally, I think it will be a good thing if the iPad 5 resembles the mini. I doubt Apple will include the very thin bezel on the edges since it would get very difficult to hold that way, but I think the iPad would look much better with a back similar to the mini than the current implementation.

How does a full size iPad cannibalize full size iPad sales? That's like saying the new model Civic is cannibalizing Civic sales. Additionally, how do you know what the specs of the mini successor will be?
I meant if ipad 5 = A6x, and ipad mini2 = a6 variation as well, the mini2 (what I meant when referring to "it,") will cannibalize ipad5 sales.
But yes now that you bring it up, if iPad5 is internally iPad4, I could see used iPads cannibalizing the latest and greatest sort of like it seems like older cheaper iPhones sales are taking over even with older internals but iPhone5 sales still are really good in aggregate.

There is truly only one solution to the OP dilemma.. Start his own tablet company.. Design and manufacture that tablet with the exact specs and form factor that HE approves of.. Develop OS and ecosystem for it. Enjoy his new tablet.
