I hate you Sony. You promised that Ukraine would get PSN and the PSP Go in October, and we didn't, all we got is PS3 Slims. Now we have to look at the rest of Europe getting 10 free games? You guys are basterds.

No it hasn't actually, PC's have not outstripped it for years, what did we have at the PS3 launch, Core Duo's? They may beat it now but they haven't done it for years. The Cell CPU is damn powerful, why do you think the US air Force has them linked to each other as a cheap super computer, well it did until Sony stopped the use of Linux hahaha.
Cell is only one small part of the equation. The GPU in the PS3 is pathetic these days (and even at launch the Xbox 360 had a better one). GPU > CPU when it comes to gaming.

EDIT: gah peskaa, you beat me to it (by a mile!).

I recently bought the collectors edition of GT new for £9 and a Peacewalker preorder for £15. Which is bloody cheap, but the funny thing is they're 2-3 times more expensive if you have a PSP Go. I don't think steps like this (10 free games with a new system) will help - what will do is considerably lower prices on PSN.

Looks like the deal is real!!

At least if you live in "Australia, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom".

Different countries get different games. Living in Germany, I get the following list:

* Buzz!: Quiz World (Argh, what the crap...)
* Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontier (cool!)
* Gran Turismo (okay, I guess)
* James Cameron’s AVATAR (crud)
* LittleBigPlanet (cool!)
* MotorStorm Arctic Edge (cool!)
* Need for Speed SHIFT (cool...I think?)
* Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice (what the hell is that?)
* 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa (probably good for a soccer game...)
* WipEout Pure (cool!)

Blast this country and its "no violence" agenda...our neighbors are getting GTA Chinatown Wars and Assassin's Creed! And we are getting "Buzz!: Quiz World"! How is this justice??? :eek:

Still a damn good deal, and it's good till September 30th. I'll wait a few months and see what happens on the PSP2 front, I am considering picking one up before the offer expires!

LOL at your reaction to free GT (the best portable racing game ATM)

US and Canada get three titles. Not bad, but certainly not a 'put down the plastic and don't even think about it' deal like in Europe.

Sony is pretty dumb. They did this with the GT launch bundle too - we did not get it.

I guess Sony wants me to buy more games on my iPhone. OK!

I've just never really gotten into Gran Turismo that much after the second installment, which provided some mild entertainment. Too sim-heavy for me, I'm a Burnout-guy. To each his own though, I know the series is quite popular.

I am still not sure how to interpret this step.....it could be either

a) We have big plans for this system and really want it to take off, so we're gonna promote the hell out of it,

b) PSP2 is around the corner, let's try and sell as many Go's as we can, before the new system is out,

or

c) The Go is a complete failure and will be discontinued - let's push the remaining stock off the shelves and be done with it!

Honestly, all three possibilities seem somewhat plausible to me. If b) proves true before this promotion is over, I will probably hold off and wait for PSP2. If either a) or c) is the case, I will pick it up, cause you simply cannot get any more portable gaming for the price.

Looks like they're still finalizing the list for Germany. They have now removed "Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice" (looks corny, but entertaining!) and instead added "Eye of Judgment" (aaaarggh...crap!!). What the fack, Sony?

I'll have to investigate if it's possible to get the ten free games from another country's store.

So it was all an experiment.

Don't get me wrong. I'd love a PSP Go IF (and only if) you could transfer your UMDs to it (don't UMDs have individual IDs that they could capitalise on?) and/or if the PSN had some big improvements. 'cuz if you own a Go you're a slave to the PSN store which is pretty terrible - especially for Europeans.
So many games I'd fork out good money for are limited to US or Japan only, even games that share the same publisher cross borders. I've had to email a few to ask if they could bring them to our region.

It's a mad, mad world when you have to ask people to sell you something. :D

I think the Go is only good for casual users... I'm a good example for this. I would only keep it handy for business trips, to have something to do on planes and trains. I would not be interested in buying new games on release day or anything like that. When/if I get the Go with the 10 games, that's probably all I will ever need. And it's nice that it's smaller than the 3000 and I don't have to juggle a bunch of game disks around.

But for a SERIOUS portable gamer, it's admittedly nonsense. And for someone who already HAS a PSP and some UMD games, it makes even less sense.

So it's a very narrow target group that would actually find this device useful/attractive, and I just happen to be a good fit.
