There were rumors Apple will release iPad mini on October, I've doubt they will do such a thing ;) They're selling new iPad just for about 200 days, I'm pretty sure they won't release new one this year.

I think your sarcasm detector is broken.

definitely broken lol...

Actually saw and messed with a ipad 3 last night at work.. The screen is Amazing.. i only played "Temple Run" and the grahics where nice and crisp with no hiccups// Even the screen saver was great looking..
I'm pretty sure Temple Run isn't optimised for the iPad 3 yet -- it looks pretty grainy to me when I play.

Hey guys,

I'm struggling with the same question. I have a 16gig iPad 1 that is getting more and more use, but is slow enough to be frustrating to use. Can those with the 3 give me some feedback as to what I should expect with a 3? Does safari still constantly reload tabs? Is app switching noticeably faster?

Thanks!

I can almost bet they will. However, its just about 9 days away and we will know then...... ;)

I'm wondering if its gonna happen....over the past few releases information has come in at a fever pitch, but it's been eerily quiet on the iPad mini front.

Hey Zhenya, I have the iPad 1 with 16gb of storage like your self. I have used the new iPad 3 extensively and it is indeed faster but not fast enough in my opinion. I found the iPad 3 like the iPad 2 in terms of surfing the internet when loading pages. The iPad 3 crashes less too compared to the iPad 1 because it has more memory than the iPad 1. Loading pages or tabs is also faster but it still feels like the iPad 2 in terms of speed. Check out youtube for comparisons between the iPad 2 and the 3rd one.

The iPad 4 should be significantly faster than the iPad 3 because it will have a newer CPU and faster WIFI. Also it will have the newer lightning dock connector so any new accessories you buy in the future will work with it without the aid fo an adapter. That is why I'm holding out till next year.

I essentially want the iPad to have a similar internet experience like my Macbook in terms of speed and I hoping that happens with the next revision. If you can hold out till next year I would do that unless there is something you need now that you can't do with the original iPad.

Thank you very much, this is just what I wanted to hear, and it sounds like it is as I suspected. I agree that what I really want on my iPad is the same browsing experience as I get on a full computer in terms of speed and flexibility. I want to be able to keep 10 tabs open without reloading, and I want to be able to quickly switch between apps without delay or having to reload or having the app crash.

Unfortunately the iPad 1 is so slow as to be maddening to use. :(

The iPad 3 that I and nearly all my friends have has been incredibly bug free & reliable. That alone, based on my experience is worth everything.
.

Same here I can't really think of anything that could be offered in a new ipad that would make me want to wait 6 months for. lighting isn't that serious of a deal breaker in fact its not even close (I never had an issue with the 30pin). I personally heald out from all the previous ipads waiting for it to get retina, now its the perfect device for my needs..Go play with an ipad and make a decision.

<snip> now its the perfect device for my needs.
That says it all.

Whether it's an iPad, iPhone, MacBook etc, the key is to obtain what works for you, then use it, enjoy it, and celebrate the fact that you are not dealing with bugs and various annoyances.

That's precisely why I just shelved my iPhone 5, in favor of putting my excellent and ever so reliable iPhone 4S, back into service. The iPhone 5 is not a bad phone, it just didn't _do_ anything for me. Nothing exciting, nothing particularly compelling.

I wanted to try one first hand. One simply never knows until you use one in your own environment day to day. It's the only way to make a suitable decision for oneself. I gave it a shot, I was open minded, and I didn't shelve it over just one reason. There were too many issues that just didn't work for me.

Having overlooked what is likely to be fixed by an iOS update, I found it just wasn't for me. One single model cannot be well suited for everyone.

That's the beauty of having a choice.

if you truly need an iPad right now (there is an actual need whether for work, school, etc) then you should buy a refurbished unit. you will save $50 on the depreciation and buying refurbished will not affect resale value as you can just sell it as "used" which it will be.

whether to buy the iPad 3 refurb or an iPad 2 refurb will be up to you. i bought an iPad 2 refurb 16GB wifi model for $319. it appears Apple is sold out of this right now, but in a week or two they will have refreshed stock.

checking the prices on eBay, used iPad 2 16GB wifi models are selling for $350 average. so if you bought an ipad 2 refurb from apple and immediately flipped it on ebay you would make a profit.

on the contrary, the iPad 3 16GB wifi models are selling for ~ $380. the refurb price on Apple's website is $449

as you can see, the better way to go is iPad 2 16GB wifi-only refurb. check Apple's refurbished website every couple of days:

I'm holding off for one that has the new connector so I don't need two different apple only cables.

What with worries about the economy, and having spent too much this year (both an iPhone and iPad), I think that what I have should be good for a longer than normal upgrade cycle for me. Hopefully, 3 years this time.

The iPad was a big enough improvement for me what with the Retina display, which to me is worth it, along with LTE. (I didn't know that IOS6 wouldn't go on the original iPad).

With the iPhone 5, it was the LTE support that was the main feature for me. I could have lived with my 4 for another year if I had wanted to.

But now that Apple has started supporting phones for 3 years, the phone shouldn't be obsoleted as fast as the first 2 generations were, when Apple couldn't know just how well they would do and didn't put in enough future proofing (mainly RAM).

----------

I was thinking that the next generation iPad should also include another size. The iPad Maxi. Finally replace a newspaper by having a newspaper sized tablet.

I'm waiting for the iPad 4 because the iPad 3 does not support the 4G/LTE bands that will be launching in the UK soon. Hopefully the iPad 4 will add those bands so I can use it on 4G. I also expect Apple to make some changes to the design of the iPad 4. I would expect it to be thinner and lighter as they start using the Sharp displays. I'm also expecting them to increase the screen size to 10.1" to compete with the new Android tablets. Maybe even a new carbon fibre shell but I'm not expecting that this time around.

IPad 4 as it might actually run iOS6.x without issues. I'm sorry but iOS 6 should NOT cause memory leaks. If apple doesn't fix it, and refuses to let one roll back to a previous version, you can hope they take the time to fix it on the iPad 4 or 5

1. Nobody knows for sure what Apple will do until they do it.

2. There's a chance Apple is going to do something in October.

Unless you need an iPad right this second, just wait the 2 weeks to see if Apple does anything phat-iPad related.

Simple!

We heard about the Sept 12th event over a month before it happened but tomorrow is October 1st and there still hasn't been an announcement for an iPad event. Just rumors. I wonder if anything will happen?
