What was the problem with the iPhone 6?

iPhones are not pieces of crap. When it comes to software/hardware integrations, they are top notch. And the build quality compared to similarly priced smartphones is high.

Lots of people think mercedes are over priced too, but many people who can afford to buy a mercedes buy them.

If you compare an iPhone to other flagship cell phones, the price is in line with what the market values the technology at. If iPhones were truly overpriced, no one would buy them and Apple would go out of business.

Apple provides a much higher level of customer service for iPhones than other cell phone manufacturers do. That isn't free to provide and has to be factored into the price of the phone.

Issues with random shut offs when showing charge, Apple blame me somehow. Also a few months after the random shut offs started the accelerator jammed itself on, meaning that battery would last 2 hours. Yes the Apple customer service used to be excellent, however is not of the standard it used to be. A lot of blame being off loaded to the customer, instead of Apple raising their hands and admitting they were wrong, or have made a mistake.

I used to agree that the iPhones were worth the price they were asking, however I think their latest products especially the iPhone and the new MacBook Pros are over priced, both have had increases of $200 and $500 respectively. However, there is little advantage (specs very similar, no innovation) over previous versions. And an unjustified increase in price (especially since the NZD is historically strong) means I will look elsewhere.

I have been buying Apple products for years and it annoys me when they are now more focused on lining their own pockets instead of innovating.

PS. I do think Mercedes are overpriced compared to VW (I own a GTi) and BMW, that being said I am a big fan of the new A series and think that is a very reasonable price.

Issues with random shut offs when showing charge,
Those kinds of issues can happen with any cell phone. If iPhones were on average more trouble prone than other flagships, then you could say they were pieces of crap with some legitimacy. But compared to other flagships, they aren't pieces of crap.

A lot of devices are having these problems, Apple has admitted a fault with the iPhone 6+ but not with the 6. There are a number of forums here with people complaining about it. I don't care how many people have it, if Apple doesn't resolve the issue what good is to me? I have sunk $1299 on a product that doesn't last?

That would be about US $900, which is what a 128GB iPhone 6 would cost after sales tax here.

The phone has a battery that lasts about 2 years with average use. That is the nature of these lithium ion batteries. They only have so many charge cycles in them. You shouldn't expect the battery to last longer than 2 years.

How long do you expect a cell phone to last?

Well in the UK you can now pick up a 64GB SE from Argos for £379, if i waited a few days longer i could have saved myself another £20, oh well not to worry still got it cheaper than it currently stands now.

But to me it looks like Apple preparing to replace both the 16GB & 64GB in the next couple of weeks.

At least wait until the iPhone update at the end of the month where the SE is supposedly getting high memory models and the iPhone 7 goes (product) Red

The most common rumour I've read is that there will just be a 128GB model released soon. Less rumours that the 16GB will be replaced by a 32GB. Prices might go down a little.
Zero rumours about a new model, and this time last year we had the name, pictures and details of the SE well ahead of the event.
If you're fine with the 64GB model, I'd buy now.
Otherwise wait a few weeks.

Exactly

The 128gb version has been rumored but it is very likely that a 32gb version will replace the 16gb one as the new entry model.

So you will most probably get double the storage space for the same or even less than what you would pay now. I do not expect other changes to the SE though.

I am about to buy an IPhone SE and will wait. The upgraded SE could be introduced any day now

I am going to buy the 64GB version today at $650, the 128GB version is now $950 ($100 more than what the 64GB was at normal Rrp).
Apple dont innovate and charge an arm and a leg for their products so I am happy to keep that $300 in my bank account for my trips away.

Hm, I See. .. the pricing is not yet OK

You made the right decision at this point

Availability starting march 24th ... I will wait a little bit more and hope to get an iphone SE 32GB at the old 16GB version retail price , but only if no 64GB phones are left at a similar price level ..

Don't make me nervous ... ;)

Just to make you more nervous ;) :

Right now, the iPhone SE 64GB is on sale at Best Buy for $350. (You do have to buy it with carrier financing, which you can immediately pay off.) This Friday the 32GB model will be out for $399, and I doubt (though can't actually know) there will be any sales for a while.

There you have it .. ;)

To calm myself down a little bit: 399 is an apple price for a one year old entry level 32gb phone

Online store prices should very soon settle well under that mark (not talking about sales)

Here's hoping ...

Some stores in NZ are talking months for a resupply.

I'm happy with my decision and got one of the last 64GB Space Greys in the country I had to go to 5 different chains and only one had any left (about 10 in the country). So act quickly if you want one!!

I don't see that on BB website, you have a link?

I was not willing to wait for the iPhone se 32gb to settle around the last 16gb version pricing and so I just bought a new iPhone se 64gb for less than the 32gb version is selling now ..

Just got tired of waiting ! ;)

This is all your fault! ;)

Well, I am happy and the person I bought it for even more so :)

I just bought an unlocked 64GB one in new condition off Swappa for $350ish. Having had a 32GB 5S for the last two years, this is a good upgrade for me. Hopefully I can sell the 5S for a little less than $200 :)
