I've had mine up running (with 8800gt) with no problems whatsoever since last Wednesday afternoon (so this afternoon will make it 6 full days.) I've named it Cthulhu: "Yea, though I walk in the valley of shadow and death, I shall fear no evil, for my Cthulhu is the wickedest beast in the valley!"

I have had mine since Friday (2/15) and so far it is working great! Mine has the standard config except that it has the 8800GT. I do have one minor issue with the computer not recognizing my firewire DVD burner, not the end of the world. It's just slightly disappointing.

I want a MP with an 8800 sooooooooooooo bad. but sadly I must wait until I move into my new house :( out of space for it.

I have the 8800 and couldn't be any happier... other than RCT3 won't work at all. In fact, Aspyr just responded this morning with their conclusion to a long drawn-out support ticket (after I gave them a full system profile of my machine) which states...

Hello,

From the looks of things you are running a very sophisticated system that you backup often. Make sure you have disabled your startup programs such as Qmaster services and PowerChute Personal Edition daemon. Also make sure all of your auto-update services are disabled. You will also need to make sure none of your backup software is set to monitor computer activities. Also any program that emulates a DVD drive will need to be completely shut down with the extension files removed or uninstalled.

Have a nice day,

Such is life.

OP, you have to remember that when someone (like me) buys a machine like the Mac Pro, waits a month for it to ship, and it comes DOA (or close to it), we're going to explode like a volcano on these forums.

In the end, don't listen to us only. Now that there is hardly a shipping wait (I think), feel comfortable buying one knowing you can return it if there's any problems.

3.2GHz 8800GT here. (with lots of software) I do not have any problems. Knock on wood.

Have run mine for four days now and absolutely no problems. Haven't run any high demand games yet but so far I'm extremely happy with my first Mac.
Glad to see COD4 plays so good. I played it on my PC and had to turn the settings down to minimum (even after replacing my ATI two year old $500 video card).

to end the idea that all macpros are messed up

i have not encountered any problem whatsoever with my 2x2.8 8800gt

Good day...
Im actually glad this came up.
I have been away for some time & came back to see the new MP out. I have been reading the forum & yikes... it would scare some off.
I know many are using the MP without a prob, yet the forum does give a place for those who are having probs a place to get advice or to vent which is good.

It is encouraging to hear the MP is the powerhouse which Apple claims.

So off the the applestore online to order.
I wont be back to complain its not on my doorstep 2min after i hit order.;)

Good to read various input though.

Best investment ever.

There is no reason to wait; this computer is really really fast.

It is, truly, a beast.

Had mine for about a week now, added some new memory and 2 hard drives.

No problems, no regrets :)

Ok ok the one or two times I put it to sleep it seemed like it didn't want to stay asleep, but I think that is probably just something on my side.

Umm, isn't this a very common and known issue? I don't think it's just something on your side

100% up time with no sleep/wake/restart issues. Loving it!.

I've been using mine now for about 2 hours and everything seems fine. Upgraded to 10.5.2 and no problems. Haven't used Bootcamp or any games yet. Apple treats its customers well; I'd order one and count on them to help you out if there was a problem. I wouldn't wait.

Had some issues with bluetooth disappearing but it came back after the graphics update - weird.

Software Update from 10.5.1 to 10.5.2 hung. I had to hard reboot and download 10.5.2 combo. The only other issue I've encountered is I've noticed a little sluggishness in Spaces. I only have 4 spaces. Other than that, its great.

I'm getting mine delivered tomorrow! As to the supply, I was amazed when I was able to place an order with MacMall on Tuesday (19th) and it will be delivered on the 22nd. Not sure HOW that worked out, but I'm not complaining. I'm planning to run the C**P out of it for a week or so before I load it up with OWC Ram and more HD's. I want it to fail early (if at all) before I start feeling safe. Wish me luck.

I say wait no more! I've been riding mine hard since I got it (Adobe CS3 Production Premium) - ran it for a while, no problems - added hard drives & 8 GB RAM (10 total... woo-hoo!) and everything is running well. No sleep issues... well, for the computer, at least. Me? That's another story.

Had I problems like Banacek, I'd-a been here raising a storm as well. So are there problems? Sure. Are they guaranteed to happen to you? Nope.

:D

No issues on my end. Everything is perfectly fine. I never allow my computers to sleep or display screen savers, so I'm not sure if mine exhibits those problems. However, so far, everything has been in tip top shape.

Tons Of Problems

sorry to report that i had my mac pro for only 3 months when i had to get it replaced. now i'm on my second and i'm having the same problems again. i wish i had never gotten it
