Hello,

I have been thinking about upgrading my very old and outdated Ipod Touch to the newest Ipod Touch (6th generation).

There were some rumors that a new improved Ipod Touch possibly with the face ID feature would be presented at the recent Apple Event some days ago, but it didn't. Now I'm wondering if there is any chance that an Ipod Touch will be annonuced this year or if I simply should just go with the recent one? I have seen some people say that a new Ipod Touch will be released summer 18, but that's one year ahead and I don't really want to wait to upgrade if it's not something that is coming in the very near future.

What are your guys thoughts? Buy the Ipod Touch 6 or perhaps wait because a new Ipod Touch will be announced soon?

You might be better off picking up a used iPhone and simply not activating it than waiting on the iPod. I am guessing that the day of iPod are numbered at this point and would not be surprised if Apple kills them in a year or two for good.

I bought a blue 128 GB iPod Touch in June and have been very pleased.

It came with iOS 8 (ha!) and I upgraded it to iOS 10 for the newer style of widgets. I will keep it on iOS 10 for a few reasons:
  1. Smooth experience
  2. The only widget I use is Workflow so I can start playlists from the lock screen as a shortcut
  3. Classic 32 bit apps

My iPod Touch is 95% for music. As a bonus, I have 8 old 32 bit apps and games that were abandoned. They run fine on iOS 10 so I’ll use it as an archive device so I can still enjoy those.

I never planned to even sign in with my Apple ID on this device and manage it 100% via iTunes, but 12.7 ruined that.
