Others have already told you, but why would you SHIP, if you're selling on Craigslist, craigslist is meant for LOCAL in person, cash only transactions.
Also, as another poster pointed out, there is a LINK on the FRONT page of each city's craiglist's about scams(avoid scams and frauds). If you'd have bothered to read it, you wouldn't have to even post here :p

The first thing it says(when you click the link) is:
DEAL LOCALLY WITH FOLKS YOU CAN MEET IN PERSON - follow this one simple rule and you will avoid 99% of the scam attempts on craigslist.

Thanks, Captain Obvious. It was pretty clear that I wouldn't do this deal after the first couple of replies.. I just wanted a simple explanation not some condescending comment like your own. That's why I posted in the ADVICE part of the forum

Sounds legit, learn to trust!

Seriously though who falls for these things? I always email them saying I am headed there tomorrow (what a coincidence!) and would love to meet them.

Never once heard back from them...

Then all you have to deal with are the people willing to grab the equipment and literally run away with it ... think someone on here lost a camera with that method.
Well, there's not much you can do about that, other than live in a cave and don't sell anything. All selling avenues have risks, even ebay.

I sold a wii to someone I didn't know at all(when wii's were still a hot item), and they didn't run away it.

My instincts are telling me to say no because of how sketchy shipping a laptop to africa is, but the person did say they would pay via PayPal so I want to say yes.

Any suggestions? I'm not used to dealing internationally on Craigslist.

Obviously, it wasn't so obvious to you then. If your instincts told you to say no, then follow them, they are right 99.99999% of the time, and as the last part of my post tells you, Craigslist's says to deal LOCALLY only, why would you want to go against that advice? Even selling internationally on ebay has it headaches.
I just reiterated and expanded on others people's advice here, so maybe you shouldn't come to a forum if you don't want advice, or maybe you just wanted to learn how to use paypal to scam others? :p

lol, Kellen I did that too and they still responded:D

Get them to send you a shipping label then send them the heaviest cinder block you can find. :D

Is the item still for sale?

My grandson needs it for his trip to africa, I'm in newyork and can give you $150 extra for your trouble over paypal if you can ship right away. LOL
