Since when does 3% = significant?

"Significant" refers to the total discount being offered. As in "The most significant combined discount..." which opens the second paragraph of the article. And yes, I think $100 - $250 off a Mac is a significant discount to most people.

So does the 241.91 include the 72.90 or is that 72.90 get added on? If my math is correct for the 2.53 15" MBP, there should be a $314.81 discount on that one. But what I don't get is macmall.com does not reflect that. I must be wrong but who knows. Can some one double check me? I would move on this deal if there is a $314.00 off the $2499 MBP.

The right-most column is the TOTAL discount ($241.91), including the $72.90 MacRumors discount. There are really three components to the discount on the MBPs: 1) MacMall's regular price is slightly under the Apple retail price; 2) MacMall offers rebates on top of their discounted prices, although they are after-the-fact mail-in rebates; 3) The additional discount for MacRumors readers that is not applied until the item is added to the cart.

Cool. That helps out. Thanks!

Does anyone know if MacMall charges tax? I can't seem to find it on their website. (or perhaps I'm having a blond day)

I see no rebate link for anything but printers on the MBP page

? am I missing something here?

I guess ultimately, significant is a relative word!

$100 - $250 off looks a lot better than 3% off!

Click the "View 9 more promotions" link at the bottom of the list of printer rebates and it'll expand to show the Mac rebate.

Every bit of discounting counts. Thank you MacMall.

MacRumors is a great site.

Make sure that you all read the fine print. 100$ Mac rebate is good for ONLY CREDIT CARD ORDERS! No Paypal :(

I bit! got parallels 4, usb hub, and the baseline MBP for $1958. Of course I got overnight shipping too :)

just sold the MBP i have for 1250 , so after all rebates this cost me about 450$.

MacMall, being based in California, definitely charges sales tax on purchases made in California.

While it's nice to have special deals for MacRumors readers, I've had enough bad purchasing experiences with MacMall to last a lifetime. Never again for me.

As of this post 57 positives and 55 negatives.
What's not to like about a discount
Some people just can't be happy about anything I guess.
And ...yes this is newsworthy.
