15 too big? Nope, the 13 is too small, the 15 is barley acceptable. I want a 17 and if Apple doesn't start offering one again (like almost every other major manufacturer does) Im switching to Windows. At least for my laptop.

Anyone else ever buy the 15" rMBP only to feel it's just a bit too big? I just want to know I'm not alone.

While I don't travel, it's not a desktop replacement either. So it's either on a kitchen counter (which is already cluttered) or on a lap on the couch. We're coming from a 13" 2010 MBP, and I thought I would appreciate the larger screen more than the added bulk, but it's just a bit too much when also fighting off toddlers.

We really don't need that much power. If the new Macbook line were more mature, it would be a good idea, but I would like a bit more beef (2010 iMac latest machine), and the air and pro lines are too close to not get the retina screen.

And while I wish the 13" had a better graphics card, truth is own 1 game that I haven't played in a year (simcity). It works very well on on the 15", but I'm sure it will be fine on the 13", better than our 2010 for sure.

My first rMBP was the 15 inch and I experienced the same size issues that you mention and I bought a 13 inch for my next rMBP. The graphic performance takes a hit for sure, but battery life and size are better. I really like the 13 inch though now.

My first Windows laptop was a 15" and that led me to think that anything else would be unusable. So my first MBP in 2009 became a 15", completely overpowered for my high school work and a waste of two years of summer job income. It was a great machine, but then I started traveling, moved to the Middle East and had the computer with me outside the house every single day for work. That was before I had a smartphone, so I also took it with me to coffee shops all the time and even on a long-tail boat and backpack trek through Thailand. It was a fine machine, but an annoying extra weight.

In response, I went all drastic into the other direction for my next laptop: In 2011 I bought an 11" MBA and what a relief it was!! I could just slip it between two textbooks, most of my handbags... sometimes I'd even carry it "naked" in my hand. It fit perfectly on any counter or coffee shop table. During this time I jumped on the smartphone bandwagon, however, and suddenly the 11" barely left the house anymore. I came to be annoyed with the tiny screen real estate and had it in clamshell mode hooked to an external monitor 90% of the time.

Now I have a 13" rMBP and I think this size is the sweet spot! I love it. Portable, yet readable.

Definitely try to exchange if 15" doesn't make your heart sing! :)

I bought a 13" and have wondered ever since if I went too small. But the truth is, I love how easy it is to carry and how light it is. Maybe then I made the right choice!

I have been battling with this debate for some time now.

I currently have a mid-2011 iMac and no laptop. I have been waiting... waiting and waiting for something to buy that I really really liked.

I've bought since then a Surface Pro 2, Lenovo Yoga 2, rMBP mid-2014 and tried them all out, but returned them all for various reasons. I actually liked each of them, but probably in the order of rMBP, Lenovo then Surface (the Surface 3 is much better than 2 however).

Last night I was very close to buying the rMBP 2015 (with 256GB), but they were sold out at my local Best Buy, so I was going to opt for the 2014 15", but changed my mind before purchasing.

I am still debating on the new 2015 13" or the 2014 15", but I am wondering if I can wait till June/July to possibly get a new 15" if they come out then.

I currently have at my disposal a 10% mover's coupon, $85 in Best Buy rewards and $50 for an education discount, so there is some flexibility to move around.

Too many decisions...

Uh yeah. I know it has its market, but 17 inches just isn't very laptoppy.

Ha! You're just as indecisive as I am! If it weren't for good return policies I'd probably never buy anything.

I'm going to assume you're out of the return period hence this post. Otherwise, take it back man! Seriously. No need to keep it if you don't like it.

I feel the same way about iPhone 6+. I bought the bigger screen thinking I could do more work on it. Not even a chance. I still need my MBPr for work and my external monitor for serious work.

Basically, the iPhone 6+ is a superior facebook browsing device for me and I can see all my lame friends' pics better haha. That's all.

I can say this, you'll get use to the 15". I'm use to the bigger iPhone even though I probably would never buy such a big phone again.
