I'm going to start by saying that I was glad that I stayed up the night of the 10th to preorder at exactly 3AM, previously and meticulously favoriting the ones I'd likely want to get.

My preorder selection? 38mm Aluminum Sport with White Flouroelastomer and 42mm Aluminum Sport with White Flouroelastomer for the wife and myself. $349 and $399, good starting prices for a 1st generation device, not too heavy on the credit card, versus the more expensive Stainless Steel models at $200-400 more each.

Best delivery window of the lot for both: 4/24 to 5/8.

But when I hit up the Apple Store later that same day, I tried on a few different models, and now I wished I had either:
  1. ordered the ones I really wanted,
  2. ordered an extra one or two and returned whichever I wasn't going to keep, or
  3. edit the current order, but can't as I would lose my place in line and fall to the back of the inventory queue.
Had I done preorder night all over again, I would've chosen the 38mm Stainless Steel with Blue Modern Buckle for my wife ($749) and the 42mm Stainless Steel with Milanese Loop ($699) for myself.

I can't be the only one who feels this way or is in this scenario, right?

While we wait for this poll to populate with votes, do you think there will be a significant return rate for the WATCH? With this device being more personal than any other previous Apple product, it could potentially lead to more exchanges for just the right model (also, considering the fact that everything is sold as one piece and not watch and band separately). This, in turn, could lead to a lot of open box and refurbished sales in the near future.

I ordered the 38mm silver sport with white strap and trying it on confirmed my purchase. I may pick up a Milanese Loop band in the future, which I also tried on.

You're missing one last choice. Yes and I cancelled my preorder. Which I did.

Same boat as you, after trying on, I wish I would have bought the SS Milanese instead of the white sport.

That being said, with there being a likely high premium on eBay and CL; that will reduce the amount of returns as people may opt to sell them for a $150-$300+ gain then just order again.

Pre-ordered 38mm SG sport. Want the 42mm SG sport.

Both on order. May 13-27 for the 38mm and June for the 42mm.

Not sure what I'll end up doing. I had a $45 off coupon applied to the 42mm oder making them the same price, but June? :(

Your title mentions buyers remorse, yet you're excluding everyone who had buyer's remorse to the point of cancelling completely. Makes for quite a skewed poll.

Sell your pre-orders for the price of an SS Apple watch. Order your SS watches and wait for a month or two.

Well, I figured if one remains in this forum, they're still interested picking up the WATCH, so I didn't put that poll option in there of cancelling out completely - just people who want or didn't want to switch after their purchase.

My pre-order was for a 42mm SS with Milanese loop with a 4/24-5/8 delivery. I don't need the extra money so selling it wasn't an option, plus I wanted whoever is willing to wait to get my cancelled order instead. I'll just live vicariously through you guys and buy one when I can walk into an Apple Store, try it on and walk out with one without all the stress of this crazy pre-order/launch period..

I ordered a 38 sport, went to the try on appt, and then i really wished i'd gotten a 42 SS... so i ordered one. I won't get it till July but ill have my Sport till then

I spent weeks trying to make up my mind... I was all over the place with "final decisions" from the cheapest 38mm sport up to the 42mm SS with link bracelet.

I settled on the 42mm SS with black sport band, which I ordered at 3:02AM EDT, and that afternoon I ordered a separate milanese band (which I wont have until May).

I went by the Apple store and I am happy with my choice. I figured I would want a sport band no matter what, so I'll have a few weeks to try that out exclusively before I get the milanese one. I really like the sport band anyway... might return the milanese band and get one of the standard band adapters... we shall see.

I preordered a SG Sport 10 minutes after preorders opened. Went to the store the next day and ever since have been contemplating the SS. However, I do like the SG Sport matte finish, lighter weight, and of course lower cost. But I also think the SS is nice looking, probably more durable, and better with a business attire.

That said, I'm most likely going to stick with the Sport, maybe enhance it in a few months with a Black Leather Loop, and consider a bump up to Stainless in the next generation.

There's no such thing as buyer's remorse when you still have plenty of time to cancel the pre-order.

I seriously am just waiting to see how it is. There's a 30 day return period, but I don't think i'll be using it. Can't wait to get my watch and see how it impacts my life.

Where did you see a 30 day return period?

I get what you are saying, but give the guy a break. He is saying he is very much looking forward to getting the :apple:Watching launch day but wishes he would have spent the extra $$ on a different version. It is a tough choice, cancel and wait months or keep the order and resell the Sport versions.

"Buyers Remorse" is the best way he could have described it... We all know he can cancel the order.

You're also missing "I didn't make an appointment. I want my first experience with the watch to be on my own time, in my own home".

This is currently our plan. We only live a little bit from the store but so far I want to be surprised in person when I bring the box in from the porch. I have yet to do this with other products. I may cave in the next week or two while I wait but trying to hold out just for fun. I would not change my mind anyhow. We both knew the sport was for us just simply based on economy. A phone is currently worth more because without it your stuck. A watch will be a fun item that we will blame fitness on the need for.

Buyers remorse? Seriously? You know if I hate this thing that I'll be able to immediately sell it right?

I would have rather had the stainless steel black link watch, but theres no way I'd spend $1100 on a first gen product. Maybe in 4 years I'll get one for myself after I graduate college.

14 day return policy.

You beautiful people! that would have been a mess.

Thankfully I don't plan on returning it at all.

I honestly think that making people buy/preorder before giving them the ability to see the watch itself is a huge fail on Apple. They're basically cashing in on their brand name doing this - they're seling the logo, not the watch, at that point..

If I had been able to see them in person prior to my order I might have spent more. As it is, we went with the sport. Stainless may look nicer but since it does not do anything better we saved a few hundred dollars.

I preordered the space grey Sport because the other colors didn't look great to me on Apple's website and in the Apple Store app, however the Sport band colors actually look MUCH more saturated and just nicer overall in person, along with the aluminum finish. I don't regret ordering the space grey, although if I would have know I'd have considered the other models a bit more.
