I would never buy anything from Best Buy. They are low life's. Last thing I bought was a camera which when I got home and opened the box, it was plainly used. Even the warranty card was filled out by the original owner. I took it back and they did not believe me. I even called the original owner who returned it by using his phone number on the warranty card.

The manager was rude and crude. What nasty people to deal with. Never again.

I also didn't have the greatest Best Buy experience when I bought my iPhone 5S with them. When I asked for full pricing, they said they weren't selling them at full price right now because of "low stock". I said other Best Buys are, so the girl goes to asks her boss if she can and comes back saying that they allowed her to sell it to me at full price as a "one-time exception". When I asked for price matching, they said no. Since I had $150 in gift cards I wanted to use, I didn't mind eating up the mark up. But when I handed her over the gift cards (about 6 $25 ones), she asked her supervisor how many of them I could use. He said as long as the register takes them, it was no problem. Finally was able to walk out with it, but I never thought a retail store would fight so hard to sell me something! So dissapointed, and I used to work at that location too. Things have definitely changed since I worked there.

Ordered a 16GB gold verizon iPhone 5S at bestbuy today for my wife. Only did it there because they have a program where they will give you $100 credit for any old smart phone. I was able to trade in a 10 year old blackberry that was worthless to me. Hopefully the iPhone comes in before Xmas.

WHAT! I didnt know that. Although I had an awesome experience with BB. I called corportate and I was on the phone with them for 45 minutes while the guy on the phone called every single best buy within a 15 mile radius of me and secured me a 5S in Space grey. I picked it up the next day. kinda wish I knew about that $100 credit though, I have an old blackberry.

If you bought it this week i would go back with the phone and see if they will give you back the $100. It's listed on the front page of this week's BB circular so they shouldn't have any issue doing that for you.

Did they give you any estimate on your wait time for the phone? I went to a local Best Buy, and the Mobile worker said they wouldn't do the pre-order anymore...was your order called a "reservation?"

No estimate, but the paperwork they gave me says Preorder Agreement. Not in a rush as she is fine with her current phone.

Just following up on my 16GB gold Verizon iPhone 5 order placed at Best Buy yesterday with the $100 credit for trading in an old phone. Just got an email that the phone is in and can be picked up today or tomorrow. I am assuming there has to be a mistake, I cannot imagine the phone is in 24 hours after ordering it. That would make it weeks quicker then if I ordered from Apple.com. I will be going after work to see what the dilly is.

Wow, ordered yesterday, and 24 hours later my wife has her gold iPhone. I can't believe we were able to get it so fast when people are still waiting for preorders. Best part is, they accepted my 9 year old Blackberry 7250 so I ended up paying $99 plus tax for it. Maybe I will start buying more at Best Buy after this.

I had one of those mixed experiences with Best Buy recently.

I managed to get my hands on a 16GB 5S when I was out of town last week, but I quickly discovered that capacity wasn't cutting it anymore. Apparently a better camera means bigger image files...oops.

Anyway, I wanted to swap out for a 32GB and my local Best Buy hasn't had any in stock. Checked with the store every day on the way home from work and it wasn't until Thursday that one of the salespeople wanted to see my current phone. After scrutinizing it, he tells me they might not take it back because there are "key scratches" on the screen. I said that's not likely given that I make a point of not putting my phone and keys in the same pocket, never mind that I couldn't see them either. Came home thoroughly annoyed, dug out a magnifying glass and went over every inch of the screen and found nothing.

Jump to Friday and they've got one in stock. The new rep examined the phone, determined that it was in perfect condition to be exchanged, and had me on my way in less than half an hour after paying the difference. It only took that long because Verizon was having issues on their end.

In the end I suppose it all boils down to who you deal with. Thank God they didn't have any on Thursday...saved me from having to argue with the phantom scratch rep.

I only buy big ticket items from Best Buy.

Customer for life. Let me tell you why.

Bought a display model plasma TV several years ago. Bought the protection package with it at a discounted price because of it being a display model.

Almost 4 years to the day the TV made a loud popping noise and the picture disappeared.

Activated the protection plan. Long story short - it couldn't be fixed.

I showed up to Best Buy to get my new TV and they were going to give me a Samsung 55" inch - my current plasma. Started talking with the manager that it sucks that I paid $2500 4 years ago and am only getting a $1000 TV.

The manager decided to give me a gift card with $2500 on it - right there on the spot. I've found that if you're respectful and praise those helping you that they will go out of their way to give you the best damn service they can. The manager just proved my point.

That day my wife and I walked out of there with a new TV, a comp monitor, and a DSLR (Nikon D90) camera for her.

Bought the last 6 phones from them. Always gave me outstanding service and matched any price that I brought in.

When I originally bought my Nexus I got it for $150. After coming in 2 times within the 30 day window I eventually got it for $50.

Customer for life.

Good luck trying to get a Device Only 5S from Best Buy.

Most of the stores around me require you to have an account with the carrier you plan on buying the Device Only 5S with. They also told me it has to be activated on the account before you the leave too

YMMV

I bought my iPhone 5 from BestBuy for full retail. I didn't have to activate it before I left. We took it out of the box to inspect it and I left the store. Activated it when i got home because I wanted to make sure I kept my unlimited data.

Best Buy was awesome in the mid-90s. When they went national and dominated they became terrible, when Circuit City went bankrupt they just became d!cks. Since they almost went under themselves they've gotten much better.

I've bought a lot from them in the past year, and this is the first I've bought more than a DVD from them in 8 or more years. The employees are better than they were (they are available and not "know-it-alls", that really know nothing. Not that they know stuff now, they just don't pretend to anymore.), they are more willing to price match on lower cost items, you can show them a competitor's price on your smartphone (but do get very specific on larger ones, like the iPhones), and in general have prices better than other retail locations. (I almost bought a $1,700 Sharp TV from them 2 years ago, the price was the same as Amazon, but there were no employees to help me!)

I've bought more Apple stuff there than the Apple store in the past two years because the stuff actually goes on sale and I don't have to swim through a sea of people to make a purchase. (They also have an awful lot of open box Apple stuff which is great.)

Best Buy has been good for me!

I've been buying from Best Buy for over 10 years. They have had their moments in the past, but when it comes to phones, I have had a good experience with my son's iPhone 5C. I bought my sons iPhone 5C on launch day and traded in my old iPhone 4 that I gave to him a couple of years ago. It was super easy, and they were very friendly despite working like crazy that day. I even received an extra $50 credit for my traded iPhone 4 since it was traded on another iPhone!

A couple of weeks later (13 days) I heard that they were giving away a $50 gift card with the purchase of an iPhone 5C, and so I called them about it, and they assured me that that was not a problem. When I arrived, they informed me that they needed to see the receipt and after a couple of minutes, they issued me my $50 gift card.

All in all, I have had a good experience with Best Buy when it comes to iPhones. I spend enough with them to be an Elite Customer, so I have a lot of experience with them. I think that they understand that the days of Brick & Mortar stores are very important in a day that we order most things over the internet. Every time I've had a question on a purchase, they have always worked with me!

Remember, its retail, so give them a chance to make it right, and they probably will.
