I feel that getting a 64gb iPhone is a more expensive way to go in my opinion. I live in the Bahamas where mobile plans are too expensive ($140 a month unlimited). For me, getting a 64gb phone is very expensive in the long run so I got a 256gb. I download all my music, videos and photos to my phone. I also have games I play and download series on to go to watch. For me to get a 64gb, I would be highly inconvenience. As of now, some people have issues looking through photos and videos they have stored in the cloud. I have not even taken into account that people pay apple $2.99 a month for 200gb storage in cloud as well which is about $36 a year. It is best to bite the bullet and get a 256gb iPhone or a 512gb which is cheaper i the long run because streaming isn't always better especially when you can download everything and play with no interruptions.

64g nowadays is not enough. They should have really had an 128gb option for the 11 pro and pro max.

Some people have music collection of 100gb or more. Storage is very expensive whether it is internal or using an android with mirco sd

Yup. If you have unlimited data at a reasonable plan, 64gb is fine.

I still hate not having my stuff directly on my device

Most people who have 100gb of music are either an audiophile or close to it. And considering music sounds way nicer through high quality wired headphones, I assume most people have a portable music player. 64gb is a cash grab, but someone buying a 256gb phone and filling up 40gb is actually wasting money.

I don't take many pics or store any music (Spotify) so 64gb is fine. My wife takes pics and video like a maniac, so 256gb was the best option.

64GB is way more than enough for me. Especially since I used iCloud and stream music and shows/movies.

The only time I use the storage is when I travel and download music, movies and shows to my devices. But even then 64GB is more than enough.

YMMV

Just depends on each person's use case. 64GB is good enough for me. I currently only use 25GB of my 11 Pro. I store everything in the cloud and stream music and videos.

No point in me paying extra for more space. Resell/trade in values rarely give you much more for extra storage. I’d be throwing away that $150 up charge for 256GB.

Given all that OP mentions I wonder if $399 iPod Touch 256GB makes more sense.

Yep, if you don't store a lot of content, 64 gig is just fine. It's not like 10 years ago where you had to store all the music, movies, pics on your phone.

I am admittedly weird in that I DETEST the cloud, so I store all my pics on my phone. I do stream music and video content though.

I have 130GB of MP3s, mostly at 256Kbps or what I got from Apple.

I would never buy anything less then 256GB storage these days and I don't use the iCloud for anything. I still have my 512GB XS Max and I still have 346GB free. I just bought the 512GB model just because. I also bought the 1TB S10+ and the 512GB Note 10+ and have 400GB SD Cards in them for storage.

You're by FAR an exception, but I commend you on getting what you want.

+1
of course all the ones who got the 64gb (including myself!!) will justify 64GB is just fine blah blah

but get higher capacity if you can. 128GB on the 11 is at a reaonsalble pricepoint or 256 on pro models which is crazy expensive.
pick your poison.

The extra $150 is worth it when you look at always having to be deleting stuff just to update your software

Depends on what you stream vs. what you want locally, and how you use cloud services. For a lot of people, if you don't need your music and a lot of video on local storage, 64 is still more than enough. Another consideration would be how much you use the video and still cameras, which can now make very big files - that could be another reason to bump up storage. I have been getting 64gb iPhones and iPads in recent years and had lots of storage to spare, but I got a 256gb 11 Pro Max because I was concerned about filling up storage before I could upload/offload. So far, though, that hasn't happened - nowhere even close.

If you're in that position, definitely.

I went with the 256 after coming from a 128 gb iPhone 7. I have all my music on the phone along with a lot of pictures, one or two games, and several drug information books as I am a pharmacist and always having that info at hand is extremely. Back before I retired i had a palm pilot with all that info, plus a cell phone, and it's much more convenient for me to have a large capacity phone for everything. I went with the iPhone 11 pro because of the larger screen, the max seems too large as I carry in a sturdy leather belt holster that was rather expensive in itself and the iPhone 11 pro fits the same as my old 7. We are supposed to be picking up a iPhone 11 for my wife today. I chose the 128gb model for her as she now only has a iPhone 5s 32 gb and it will not hold her music. I chose that size because we have basically the same music library and my old 128 gb model holds everything with room to spare. She will now be able to dump the older iPods and keep the phone handy all the time, plus from all appearances have much better battery life. Another plus will be getting rid of the old 25pin cables.

My Windows Phone (RIP) replaced with iPhone 8 Plus with 256 GB, two years ego. Currently, there's 29 GB of storage used. The system in itself takes up 11 GB of that.

Not knowing what to expect and advices for the max storage helped to get the 256 GB version. I should have evaluate the intended use of the iPhone and select the storage requirement based on the needs. By now, I know that the 64 GB version is more than sufficient for me.

Despite having unlimited data plan, I don't use the iCloud for anything, browsing occasionaly, etc. Nor do I have any music on my iPhone, don't take many picture, have four third-party apps, etc. The smartphone is basically used as phone, primary purpose, emails and text. Yeah, 64 GB will be more than enough at the next time....

You need a 32gb lol

Not if they discovered that it wasn’t enough for them after all. That said, whether or not someone else found 64 GB to be enough doesn’t really have much bearing on what that would mean for someone else.

It depends on the user.
In general, most people probably don't even need 64GB, and at the same time, most people will purchase more than what they actually need, thus giving more profits to Apple.

Regardless of what you feel is better for you, you will give more money to Apple anyway. Smart business if you think about it. :D

Personally, 64GB is the sweet spot for me, and I am grateful when Apple put 64GB as the base storage nowadays, so I can save money and just buy the base iPhone. Compare this when I had to pay more than base price for my 64GB 6s because the base was just 16GB.

Exactly. Paying a lot of money for a ton of local storage on a mobile device doesn't make a lot of sense considering I live in an area with plenty of connectivity and cloud access. But to each their own. Some like the OP have spotty connections at best. So there are options for just about everyone.
