Is it worthwhile to still purchase an iPad Pro at this point in time? Also, does anyone know of any soon upcoming update to the pencil, or will it be remaining the same for a while?

I just bought a 9.7 iPad Pro last week and couldn't be happier. I upgraded from the original iPad Air , and its a great upgrade. Yes the new ones that may come out this spring will be upgraded internally, but I'm sure the Pros now will be "relevant" for quite some time. I'm just going wait a year+ when they update again .

Yes, in fact, that's what prompted me to ask others these questions. I wanted to get their opinions as well. Thanks.

Bought a 9.7", 128gb, open box just now for $539 + tax at Best Buy. $100 off. Best I could do (no pun intended). Also got an open box pencil for $86. Thanks for the input.

Just bought 2 32gb WiFi only iPad Pro's from abt.com. $499.99 each, No Tax, Free Shipping and 12 months interest free financing with the abt.com credit card. One silver and one space gray. Upgrading from the original iPad Air. These are the 9.7" iPad Pro's.

I bought two iPad Pro 9.7 128gb back in March when it was released. Best purchase ever, this device is a solid performer and I am so impressed with the performance and the sound. I've been reading via my Kindle app at work while on lunch with my iPhone SE (also purchased at release with the 2 9.7 Pros) and the screen is a bit smaller than I'd like.

Best Buy currently has $100 off the 32gb 9.7 iPad Pro, so I went and picked one up. It'll be my travel/work iPad Pro. I would've bough the 32gb iPad Mini 2, but am completely sold on the solid performance of the A9X, 4 speakers and especially the True Tone Display. There's also the impressive battery life too.

The 9.7 is my favorite device, as indicated by having bought an extra one. My spouse is crazy about hers and with the Apple Pencil, creates some beautiful artwork. It's just my opinion, but I feel Apple really outdid themselves with the 9.7.

Wonder if anyone else feels the same?

I feel the same about my iPad Air 2. It was one of the best purchases I've ever made. It's the first iPad I've owned that made me almost completely abandon my MBP.

Post a screenshot of your battery life sometime.

Battery life dropped from the Air2 to the Pro 9.7"...it's one of the reasons why I returned mine when I bought one when BB had it for $200 off.

Are you sure? My understanding based on reviews I read is that the 9.7 Pro has better battery life than the Air 2. Wrong?

Not worth it. Get the Air 2. Or wait for the next spring
Do you realize the idiocy in waiting almost half a year for something that currently isn't even rumored, let alone announced? If people took your advice, they could be waiting all that time just to get what - a spec bump in march or april? Or worse, a spec bump in September or October? Please.

There's always something new around the corner. But there's zero sense in waiting almost half a year for an update that's unknown.

It does, and I speak from experience. Not a huge amount, but it's there.

Sadly, you are wrong. Look at the Engadget reviews for the Air2 and the Pro 9.7".

They do the identical test on the battery...it's one of the reasons I look to their review over the others. Other reviews prattle on about how use the iPad for a typical day in typical ways, etc...almost a meaningless test.

I prefer to get an Pro 2 next year rather than buying an Pro 1 now. It's one year old tech . and the Pro 2 will be a lot better than Pro 1 .So, I prefer to wait and see what Apple brings next spring. Its just 6 months away!

Oh, and the Pro 2 will get true tone screen !! 12.9 inch model . one more reason to skip the Pro 1

I had the 9.7" and have the 12.9". True tone is inconsequential, and this is reinforced by the fact that Apple didn't include it on the iPhone 7.

I'd also rather have a usable device for 6 months, rather than suffer on without at the hope of something more than an incremental spec bump at some unknown point down the road.

You know what they say though. You do you. I personally can't tolerate the antici......pation.

I concur...TT is a rather inconsequential bump, but whatever floats your boat. :D

I have an Air 2 it's very usuble .I am not suffering .. My Air 2 is pretty fast

I would just buy one, I love mine and have to say it's faster then my supposedly more superior iPhone 7 128GB! And my 9.7" Pro is only the 32GB model, best device I've bought in a while.
Seriously you won't regret getting one.
