I've bought both a refurbished iPod Photo and recently a refurbished MacBook. Both have worked flawlessly and I'm very happy with my purchases! I highly recommend Apple's refurbs.

I bought a refurbished MacBook (specs in sig) about a week ago. It arrived on Saturday. It looked brand new aside from some very, very tiny scratches. I would suspect most refurbs have scratches, but they are so small that you will not see them unless you put your face smack against the computer to look for them. These scratches most certainly will show up anyway even with a new MacBook, so it's not a problem at all.

I've had no software related problems either. My wireless connection has never dropped like many others are reporting with the MacBooks, even before the 10.5.2 update.

I had an older MacBook 2.16 before this one, and the new one runs *much* cooler and quieter. The fans rarely run, even when working in Photoshop. I also do not have a processor whine (at least thats what I think it was) that my old MacBook had.

I'm very happy with Apple's refurbished products. Five stars. It's definitely worth the savings as well.

I should mention I've also noticed this on my MacBook and iPod. There may be some very tiny and unnoticeable scratches. They're so tiny though that you'd only find them if you were really searching hard for them.

Awesome. I am currently in the process of saving up for a Macbook so I am trying to get the best deal I can. I am going to use the education discount, but can you use it on a refurb? That would be great :D I just may get it refurb though this being my first Apple product (I know hard to believe) I may want to start with a brand new one ...

You can't use the education discount on refurbs. Sorry.

Oh, ok thanks :p I think I'll just use the education discount then. I think it is not worth the risk buying a refurb when you aren't saving all that much more than when you use the education discount. I'd prefer a brand new one.

This would be my first Mac if I buy one. I have a Mac store down the road from me but there is a refurb for $100.00 less. Is this considered enough of a bargain?

Thanks,

It really depends on the spec of the machine and also what type of Mac.

You cannot get education discounts on the refurbished Macs themselves, but you can on the AppleCare for them. I negotiated for like 10 minutes with an Apple Sales rep. to try to get a student discount, but no luck. I just received my refurbished MacBook Pro. I love it.

i would definitly get the refurb because it comes like just new but cheaper

Like I mentioned in another thread, I went ahead and pulled the trigger and got it refurb. I ordered the mini dvi to video adapter and then I went on Newegg and got a 2GB stick of memory to beef it up a little.
