New 27" IMac

I to am one of those with an old non Intel Mac that can't be upgraded any longer. I'm looking to buy a new 27" IMac I5. I read a performance comparison of dual core vs quad core I5 and I7. The biggest performance jump as you would expect was from dual core to quad core I5. The I7 was only slightly faster then the I5 and I don't think is worth the extra $200. I can understand people wanting to max out their memory to 8 GB at purchase considering the limited number of memory slots but for most folks, even heavy Photoshop users 4 GB is just fine. But IMA if your going to spend just $200 for upgrade, go with the 8GB memory rather then the I7.

Since the consensus is that the IMacs get refreshed in September I'll just hang on until then and see what Apple does, by that time my AAPL stock might make enough to pay for it and maybe an IPad to boot.
