What mac should I get? I have heard the last config is the sweet spot, that there's not much difference between the 24c and 32c

I've narrowed down my options to:

  • m1 pro/16c gpu/32gb/2tb - $3500
  • m1 max/32c gpu/32gb/1tb - $3500
  • m1 max/24c gpu/64gb/1tb - $3700

Alas, none can be found anywhere.

Coming from a mid-2014 15" mbp with 16gb ram and 512gb ssd with Nvidia 750m graphics.

if you are in the US, B&H has several configurations in stock. Not sure if you are looking at 14 or 16" either.

Unless you plan to do some heavy virtualization work or work with ML, you can scrap the 64GiGs option,

What’s the main use of this new computer?
Also, the difference between a 24 core gpu and a 32 core gpu is only $200.

Evaluate your needs and then decide. FYI, the M1 Pro is a solid CPU on its own right.
