So I'm in San Francisco right now and need to get a microSIM for my iPad.

I have done a search and apparently one can walk into an AT&T store and purchase one for $16, but I went into an AT&T store yesterday and they told me I have to order one online (?).

Anyone know if they've changed their policies or something so that you can't buy one in a store, or if that store was wrong?

I do have a US credit card so activating it won't be an issue, just need to get the SIM.

Thanks!

Got one from an Apple store for free, no questions asked. I basically just told them I bought a used iPad from Amazon and it didn't come with a SIM card

Tried another AT&T store today and was met with the same 'you need to order one online' spiel.

Didn't know you could get one from an Apple store- will ask there tomorrow.

Thanks for the advice!

Walked into an AT&T store on Thursday and they set me up for free. For some strange reason, I haven't had to pay anything yet either even though it's working.
