It does. If I remember correctly there was some official statement from Apple regarding this. The sound quality is just ok. Not $300 in my opinion. If Siri worked better it might be worth it but the HomePod is a complete disaster.. still after Apple has hired additional people. It’s a product that has a lot of potential. It’s worth $200 not a cent more.
I don’t agree that the sound quality is just ok, but I do agree that it’s not worth paying a cent over $200. Personally, I’m looking to find another one if I can get it for $150. I think it’s a good deal at $150 if you don’t care much about Siri and only care about playing music.

I bought a white HP at Best Buy for 199 this morning. I had thought they were cool but at 349 and then 299 not worth the cost but at 199 I bite. Nice speaker, been playning Christmas music on Pandora all morning.

I agree with everyone here. Nice speaker. Nothing great about it. Placement makes a huge difference in sound.
The integration with the ecosystem is what excels with this speaker.

I bought mine for 300 Euros. Unfortunately, electronics (and pretty much everything else) is much more expensive in the EU. Will arrive probably next Friday.
My first wish was KEF LSX (not to mention LS50 Wireless) but it is too expensive for me at the moment.

Christmas update: In our family secret Santa, my brother in law gifted me a pair of Rockville HD5 bookshelf speakers. I just bought an airpod express on eBay so I can airplayify these things and then play them along with my HomePod. I’m excited for the commotion I’ll cause with the neighbors.😈

You have very strict consumer laws. This translates to higher costs for consumers. It's like buying AppleCare vs. it being included. Yours is essentially included by default.
