I always carry my headphones in a cloth jewelry bag similar to this. They're like $2 at Walmart. Never have had a problem in 4 years of doing this with the stock earbuds.

"Keep them from getting wrecked"

They're not gonna get wrecked that easily. Talk about making a problem out of nothing.

Don't worry about Tennessee and the fires burning everyone's homes and businesses, we got bigger issues here.

Well, in fairness, I haven't read a single thread on this forum that is a "bigger issue" than the loss of property and life in Gatlinburg and the surrounding areas.

By your logic, no one should be posting anything today.

I was travelling on business and early this AM my 6+ showed the first signs of "dead screen disease" or what ever it is being called. It's a company phone BTW. Couldn't wait for repairs and could not be without a functioning phone so went to an Apple store and got a new 7+ (Reg black, 256 because that's what they had at the store I was nearest).

I like the phone overall but for $1300+ Cdn before tax and AppleCare they can't put the headphones in a protective case? Seems a bit "cheap" to me.

I did try searching "headphone case" in the forums first but none of the threads looked like a proper hit. I use my old headphones a lot and like having the case to keep them from getting wrecked when not in use. I'll try putting the new ones in the old case but the lighting connector looks like it will be an issue.
They're referred to as "EarPods."

There are absolutely ZERO iDevice discussion topics which aren't "first world problems." Why are you here if not to discuss them?

Watch your step. The first one off your high horses is a doozy.

Considering other companies are not even including earbuds nor AC adapters with their smartphones, just be glad that those things are still included with iPhones.

My Xperia XZ came with earphones packaged the same way as the iPhone USB cable. Unless the case is usable in the field, which the old iPhone one generally wasn't, then the cases are just luxury packaging. Someone in this thread has already mentioned the old Sony and Sennheiser wind-up cases...now they were cool. These days it's best to go with a cheap jewellery pouch off Ebay.

For every person like the OP there are 100 who just take the headphones out of the box and throw the box away (I'm one of them). I'm Ok with Apple being a bit more green by using different materials for the packaging.

If it was actually done for 'green' purposes and not just to increase profit. Some people don't like change and a perceived drop in quality or value for money. Having said that, I don't give a monkeys because I don't use earbuds.

Apple's famous pretty white wire sheathing is pretty fragile. We've had to replace a lot of various cords and yes, my kids in particular have killed a number of sets of earpods..

Thanks for offering some info that was relevant and I appreciate your support re: those who seem to only want to derail an otherwise simple discussion.

I like the people saying the case was useless/difficult to use ergo its useless for everyone else.

I used the case all the time, I found it extremely convenient and it took me all of 15 seconds to get the EarPods in when I was done. I like the fact I could put them in the case and chuck them in my backpack without worrying about tangling.

In fact I would probably spend more time detangling cable than putting them back in the case!

Clearly I am not the norm....

Seriously doubt you "stored" them and used them with any regularity. The time it takes to neatly put them back in and align them so it closes right is obscene.

I always put my headphones away in the case. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. So don't speak for everyone just b/c you are too lazy to use the carrying case that came with the headphones.

If 15 seconds is an obscene amount of time to you, I feel bad for you. You must have no patience.

I hate when companies go "green" when it comes to plastic. It makes everything feel either cheep or lacking in quality when you go "green."
