I recently moved apartments and transferred my cable internet service to the new place. I'm using the same setup of router and cable modem. The speeds have been inconsistent. It will work ok in spurts, but lately has been very un-responsive. Pages will load, then stop for awhile, then finish. I tested my speed, and I was astounded to see i was getting 15+mbps. Only problem was every time the test would stall on the upload speed. I basically have no upload. I reset the router included the dns servers and things sprung to life for the night. I was getting 20+mbps download and about 1mbps upload. I thought everything was fixed but this morning it is back to a good download speed and absolutely no upload speed.

any ideas?

yeah, i'd contact the isp. Weird issues like that come up when they change something at the router station and don't fix it all the way...

also, depending on the cable provider and how far away you moved, you might try completely resetting the router to default settings (did you completely do this) and let it do a "detect your settings" run. There might be a old setting next to your username/password thats for the old area.

did a complete router reset. seems to be better for now, if it keeps up i'll contact the isp.

I would follow HellHammer's advise. The most likely scenario here is that the wiring in your new place is old or has problems somewhere.

Call your ISP and ask if they could come down and check since you get un-reliable service (that's enough grounds to warrant the check-up).
