High fructose corn syrup is worse, unfortunately. It is literally in almost everything. DNA is being coated with the stuff due to all the intake. Granted, caffeine wise, mainly all I have with caffeine in it is Coke. Maybe those NY governors were onto something.....

Please explain how DNA is "coated" by corn syrup.

Not a bit a physiology I'm aware of...

Maybe those NY governors were onto something.....

It was the mayor of New York City, not the governor of the New York State that tried to inhibit consumers and restaurants from large drinks. Also each state only has one governor.

I like my caffeine intake and my espresso's and stay away from high fructose corn syrups and soda pop.

They don't serve fried food in the schools; they aren't allowed to, and the schools don't have fryers.

Even when I was a kid all those years ago and they WERE allowed to serve things like "fried" chicken, it was actually baked. Hence the general distaste for cafeteria food.

That's not what many websites and TV shows have shown the rest of the world.

Here's just the first site I came across mentioning deepfried foods in US school kitchens.

I nearly laughed at the thought of an "industrial deep-fryer" and "50 lb bag of sloppy joe" in a school cafeteria. If only.

There's a reason the kids hate the food in the cafeterias, and it's usually because they try to take something relatively unhealthy (like a muffin) and make it healthy (by taking out all the sugar and most of the fat), leaving a very unpalatable mess in its wake.

Our intake is so high, it's changing the chemistry within our bodies.

Another unscientific opinion presented as fact.

First, you never answered my question about corn syrup "coating" DNA. How does corn syrup "coat" DNS.

Now, it's our "chemistry" that's "changing".

If it's not too much to ask, knowing what you are talking about, before talking about it, would be appreciated.

Try citing some scientific references to support your absurd assertions.

I find it incredibly annoying that people are so willing to defend or even promote the consumption of a drug of addiction.

I am an caffeine addict and have been addicted for the last 28 years. I have had other drug issues in that time that I have been able to resolve, but I am still unable to shake the insidious grasp of caffeine addiction. I've tried in the past but it leaves me feeling unaccountably depressed even months after ceasing the drug.

Not to belittle your plight in the least, but perhaps because for some of us caffeine isn't the least bit addictive? I see no harm in partaking, nor in someone else doing so if they aren't adversely affected.

They used to give us bologna sandwiches on white bread with butter of all things. Something to do with a dairy subsidy.

It is a drug that is physically addictive. Cessation of a regular 300mg daily intake or more will induce physiological withdrawal symptoms.

I have absolutely no issues with people consuming this drug or any other drug for that matter. It is the social acceptability of the drug, against a backdrop of the war against other drugs, that I find hypocritical.

I love coffee but usually only drink 1 cup per day and sometimes take a break. Although last week I started drinking starbucks' Americano which is apparently 2 espresso shots with boiled water and it's awesome, had one everyday this week.

Read the comments to the article, some dating back to 2009. The article is old and not particularly current.

My apologies, I didn't use the best example there! Turns out it's written by some radical food extremists!

Why did we see copious amounts of deep frying food in the Jamie Oliver TV series "Jamies Food Revolution" then? Did they deliberately find the only few schools in all of the US that still used deep-fryers for publicities sake? Wouldn't surprise me.

I'm glad things are on a move to healthier ways none the less.

I remember back in the early 80's when we made the move towards healthier food in our public schools, not that we have dining halls like you folks, but we have tuck-shops or canteens. It's only the exclusive private schools here in Australia that offer dining hall experiences.

Sorry to be off topic with this, back to your caffeine fuelled rage everyone! ;)

I read about it....

Can you help me find the part in the article you linked to that describes the change in body chemistry and deoxyribonucleic acid?
