Maybe I'm blind - but where does the job post say it is iPhone related? Maybe they are hiring new people because they sold more Android phones as expected and need more people to support those?
Yes I also wish more carriers would get the iPhone, but that does not mean that every cough out there can be read as a sign that the iPhone is coming to other carriers. We all know that it can't be too much longer until this happens - so one of the rumors (if based on any foundation or not) will some day turn true ...
It doesn't, but I've worked for call centers before and this kind of hiring is big. It's not just to get hold times down. This is planning for some major release of some sort. I seriously doubt any Android release would warrant this kind of hiring. And most likely it's all on a contract basis so that when the initial flood of calls subsides, they can shut it all down again.
#8 provides all the proof we need. Verizon/Sprint CDMA phones have ESN identifiers, AT&T's GSM phones have IMEI.
#8 proves nothing. We already know it's for Verizon phones. This doesn't prove it's for an iPhone.
This is just getting obnoxious. I've never complained on any of these forums, but this Verizon crap is getting BEYOND old. It's a freaking rumor/point of interest that has been beaten down to a bloody pulp. I think that any and every Verizon story (unless officially confirmed by Apple and/or Verizon) should be on Page 2 from here on out.
Imagine being fed tomato soup on a daily basis. That's exactly how I feel with all this Verizon crap. Sick of it!
MacRumors.com is compelled to report on all Apple related stories. How bad would it look if the big news outlets report it and MacRumors just skips over it or places it on page 2?
There isnt going to be a CDMA iPhone...
Welcome to my ignore list troll....these comments do nothing to advance the discussion and are nothing more than troll bait.
anyone with half a brain, that has used an iPhone for more than a year knows that Apple not the Carrier handles customer support for iPhone
anyone with half a brain, that has used an iPhone on AT&T knows that the carrier, not Apple, handles customer support for iPhone connectivity issues.
#8 on job description list says otherwise.
#8 on the list says nothing about an iPhone. I agree he is wrong, but please use a more valid argument.
Edit: We have good info pointing to this being for Verizon, we have nothing more than speculation that it's related to the iPhone.
The holidays are coming. It's the busiest time of the year for activations (by far) and the wireless carriers always ramp up in advance. Nothing to get excited (or alarmed) about!
Hahahaha! Yeah, sorry....they don't hire on this level for the holidays unless there are some BIG promotional tie-ins. This number is a HUGE increase for most call centers...even for top 50 companies.
