When will either Apple or Verizon to something that does not get reported as support for a Verizon iPhone. Why is everyone forgetting you have more android phone, Galaxy S stuff and the tablet coming out, as well as a slew of new Windows 7 phones, which are getting decent buzz. Of course they are going to need some help.

Perhaps instead of hanging out at Mac rumors, you should start hanging out at Mac facts, because it's clear that rumors tend to upset you.

Um, no. Rumors do not upset me. In fact, I love a good rumor. But you gotta admit that this Verizon thing is just as nauseating as the "Brangelina" stories were for the first four years of their relationship. It got to a point where you just wanted to scream anytime you saw a magazine cover at the supermarket check-out.

Verizon has a call center here in Wilmington, NC, but there has been no additional hiring. Why would they hire an outside company to assist iPhone users when they have their own call centers?

I'm going to go ahead and guess that this location doesn't have the capacity to hold several hundred more representatives. Notice that NC is not listed amongst the locations.

Dear god, grasping for hope at it's best. Pure desperate speculation.

This could well just mean Verizon is having higher calls to their call centers and they are hiring to reduce wait times.

That's the kind of thing where you do gradual ramp-ups, not a huge hiring bonanza. Besides, what cell phone company bolsters their customer service just for the hell of it?

Further Proof

From the newswires....."The sun rose out of the eastern sky this morning and experts are proclaiming this as further proof of the inevitable Verizon iPhone."

Sprint did it. Well they did it for everything, massive cell network updates and customer service updates. Results, their balance sheets took a dive and they are now in the state they are because of it.

You know, this is kinda right...

With each rising of the sun, we are a day closer to this alleged event. So these sunrises are pivotal since they must first come to fruition if we expect to see other carriers with the iPhone. These experts might be on to something after all. :p

And they are still regarded as having the worst customer service amongst major cell carriers and are also one of the worst performing national cell carriers. Not a model example to follow.

What does a load planner do? Estimate tower utilization?

Some do. There are automated tools to help with tower predictions.

Senior planners analyze short and longterm capacity required for both the wireless and wired sides of the whole network infrastructure.

That includes studies of the population, network traffic types, and figuring out what kinds of things could come out new that would cause even more traffic.

Then they work with vendors to see what can be done now and in the future, and the whole thing ends up in evaluations that management uses to plan expenditures on.

It can be stressful :)

I believe the call center is being specifically set up for users of the original iPhone to be accustomed to the Verizon-branded iPhone that has a fixed, red background theme and customized user interface, the V-CAST app, and two sets of AppStores. :)

I bet. Their conclusions results in millions of dollars of back haul upgrades or even new tower constructions I imagine.

Because you're forgetting about Verizon's secret weapon -- Palm! HP's been working hard behind the scenes. The next Palm Pre will save Verizon from irrelevance! :D

I wouldn't consider the #1 carrier in the nation to be irrelevant or near it.

Yeah, that's a pipe-dream. They have an extremely strong lineup of android phones. Even if AT&T passes them, they're still huge and still profitable.
