I think it's just a poor quality photo of a photo man... The needles are small, plus turn your iPhone at that angle. The needle visibility is significantly reduced for me, though not just sure if that's a consequence of the screen viewing angles or if this is applicable to a printed picture of the homescreen too. Everything is darker in that pic too, there is a lot more blue in all the icons. The red could easily wash out. As someone pointed out you can't see the red in the clock either - did they remove it there too? And look how muted the Reminders icon's dots are. They grey on Safari looks kinda pinkish to me too.

That's fair, but then what about something like this photo?

That's a print-out of iOS on the iPod touch and a similarly terrible quality photo lol. The Safari icon still looks quite vibrantly red.

I'd also use that image as a counter to it being something print-related.

My guess is that the artwork was done before they changed the coloring on the icons after the first couple betas. The blues and shadows are more intense than on the current build. The photos are not sharp enough to see the white markings, or they at one point have done away with them. (Its that way in all the "leak" pictures)

Its also interesting that the contacts app must be on page two...

EDIT - zoom into it with photoshop and you can clearly see the white tick marks, and the needle is red still.

Sorry, this is a quite low res image and we cant see anything clearly, let alone white tick marks

:rolleyes:icons icons icons icons.Do you guys put your phones on just to stare and admire the icons.Who cares about icons in real life.

Different (poor) cameras and/or possible after-treatments can have different results. Some pictures can be overexposed, some underexposed, some colors can be off, some other things can be off. All kinds of stuff. Not to mention that with leaks of different kinds often, aside from weird/poor cameras and/or after-treatments, there can be additional filters applied to make them appear somewhat less ordinary (more special) and/or due to some sort of watermarks or trying to conceal something that might give away where the photo was taken or by whom. Sometimes it's even a picture of a picture, which makes things even worse (even though sometimes you can't really tell that's the case easily).

looks grey... ;)

in fact if you use an eyedropper tool, it's very similar to the purple i posted earlier that i got from the 5C.

Also, from these pics it looks like they removed:

- the red from the arrow on the compass icon.
- the yelow from the little dot on the camera icon
- the blue from the stocks icon
- the red from the clock icon

The red in the Interstate 280 sign on the Maps icon also looks grayish on the images (the whole Maps icon has its colors somewhat off in general). The colors in the color flower/wheel of the Photos icon are also off and are not quite what they normally are. So, pretty much all signs pointing to it just being the effect of the particular picture rather than any actual icon changes (unless we are going to get many more icons that are changing to some sort of weird off colors that really don't make much sense).

Not really, I can definitely discern some red in the needle.

Here's a pixel from the second one...

these two different colours are both from the iOS 6 icon!

point is, crappy pictures are fallible.

Both of those images don't really count... one of them is a pre-rendered marketing image and the other one is the actual display of the device.

And neither of them look grey to me.

Please look at the colour panels I have posted, none of them are straight grey or straight red! Your brain is playing tricks on you.

Anyway, you seem pretty convinced. Hope you're not easily embarrassed, come the 10th ;)

Everyone sees what they want to see. ;)

I'm not convinced this is the case, I'm totally open to that I'm wrong, but I don't necessarily think a super-cropped eye-dropper sample of a single pixel colour is an accurate representation of what you can really see. I mean, anti-aliasing on text often has wrong-looking colours on a pixel level but it looks right when you're zoomed out.

What about other things that were mentioned that are similarly off in terms of color on the original "photo", like at https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/17826865/ and/or https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/17827136/

Either way (gray or red) there is too much white in this Safari icon.

Great eye OP! It definitely looks like they are changing the needle to grey. It's not uncommon for them to make subtle adjustments between the betas and the actual release.

9to5 mac has the purported photos of the phones in the cases, including ones of the booklet that comes with the phone from a different source. It looks grey in the booklet photos too.

Here's the 9to5mac article with the images. LINK

The saturation and colour balance is out on all of these images.

The blue 5C shell looks good in these pics but in RL I think it will be much lighter.

I don't know if this has been brought up but check out the date on the calendar. 10th, I can't make out if it says Tuesday above it thought.

Sadly I think the blue will be more like:

Based on:

When they should have gone more like:

Instead of this fluro / pastel crap.

:(

I take it back - blue seems to be consistent with:

iPhone-Plastique-Couleurs-Photo.jpg

Maybe the icons appear darker from CMYK printing onto plastic / sticker..

First photo in this post shows red.

Printing on stick-on labels always looks bad.
New icon designs use vibrant RGB colors that have no equal in the print world, especially with a 4 color printing process.

PREMISE OF OP IS INCORRECT.

thx, I was trying to explain this, but, this thread has become funny, people nitpicking over some leaked blurry pics of, not an iphone turned on, but the printed materials to go with the packaging.

You really think the icons will look like this in iOS 7 on the phone itself? ...Gradients and bright colors are difficult and expensive enough to print. I think these are going to be very simple, with bold colors. It really isn't meant to look just like the screen turned on, just an eye-catcher, something to catch interest.

You all look so silly with your "this pixel looks like", I'm getting a good laugh out of this. ...At least you aren't beeching about battery life on a beta. :D

You just joined in to say a lot of the things that other 'silly' people got involved for to say. For instance, the fact that photos and prints of photos can be distorted. So I'm glad you got a laugh, now I'm laughing too.

I just wish they would change that horrible white around the logo! Surely Apples designers could've made something much more special than that!
