Modern Warfare 2 sucks.

People won't shut the hell up about this game. While everyone everyone was losing their minds in the unbelievable hype for this game, no one stopped to think that maybe it would just be yet another shooter, which it is. Call of Duty 4's campaign took me months of genuine effort to complete in Veteran. The Modern Warfare 2 campaign took me 6 hours to complete on Veteran, with minimal effort. One thing Infinity Ward forgot is that
Captain Price is dead, yet they disregarded that and brought him back, with no explanation.
The story just makes no sense, I felled physically angry at the end of the campaign, how can you survive a drop off a cliff and then being stabbed in the chest? How come throughout the whole campaign, you're always on the ground with that stupid shell shocked effect? It gets old, and somebody always picks you up or drags you, and after 6 freaking games, I am so sick of being stuck in one area until somebody else opens the door for me. Call of Duty is extremely overrated.

Or are you just mad cause Germany got the uber censored version ;):p I wouldn't call it overrated, I just think it was rushed to market and it lacks the same quality the first one had. Of course the FPS kiddies will eat it all up, and since they are vocal you hear it.

can you please not give spoilers?

Just beat the campaign, took a total of 5.5 hrs. Twas my first ever COD experience.

Its a great game but i felt the hype and consequent inadvertent spoilers kinda took away from the experience. I already knew most of what was coming and as a result, majority of the gameplay was just a formality.

AI was also kinda weird at times, sometimes you'd actually need to plan a strategy of advancement and other times you could just walk it.

Still the graphics, sounds and controls were stellar and it was an immensely intense experience. Big smile on my face at the end of it all...£30 well spent.

Now if you'll excuse me, special ops is calling...

I've just completed the Campaign - at best it was mediocre, at it's worst, downright boring. Colour me utterly unimpressed. :(

Hopefully 'Special Ops' will be more enjoyable.

After playing MW2 for nearly a week now I do have to say the graphics and sound is mind blowing they really did a nice job on it. The gameplay on the other hand is by far too simple, I'm not sure if it's because the AI in the campaign is predictable or there's just not enough campaign action...

I was hoping for maybe a tank/stryker (not lacing targets) or apache gunship level... I think getting the whole game knock over in hardened in one night doesn't leave much to do... I still don't get the museum level, a waste IMHO

The multiplayer on XBOX LIVE is really crap, although I don't have the best of connection games seem to drop out 2/3 times and I find the concept of perks rather perplexing... It seems you need them when you're starting out not when you hit prestige, although I do agree with unlocking newer weapons the higher the level.

I guess I was hoping for a little more out of this game...

I pretty much agree with you.

I thought overall, the levels were somewhat boring, although I did like a few of them.

I finished the campaign in the first night under normal settings. I am now trying it under 'Veteran' settings. While it much tougher, it does seem quite a bit easier than MW1.

Question for PS3 users

If I go to my friends house and play split screen multiplayer... can I sign in as player 2 under my own account?

So all my XP and stuff is carried over?

All your vs. multiplayer XP and stats are tied to your account. So as long as you can sign in, you'd continue on. I know a long time ago some games would just make you "Player 1 (Guest)" but I think most games now let you sign on as yourself.

Just finished the game myself. Great experience, great graphics, very visceral.. but more interactive movie than game. I really felt the gamer is being rushed through each level, along a linear path with very few choices.

I thought the story/settings was a bit OTT. All that were missing were space aliens, a secret base in the crater of a volcano, and an underwater complex - with sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads! (Hope that doesn't constitute a spoiler.. )

As for the storyline (SPOILER in white, don't highlight if you don't want to read!!) :
I still don't get why Sheperd went crazy in the story. Yes, he was pissed at his men being killed in the nuclear explosion, but why kill the SAS team? I thought the story would have been much better if Price was the bad guy. He had been locked up, brainwashed, then Makarov let him be released, so that he could be the one who fired the missiles from the Russian sub.

Spolier talk in White:
Yeah, what was with that? When Price says "good" after he says the missile is firing?

Spoilers continuing..
That's what made me wonder too. The way he disappeared off on his own into the sub, and then the missiles fire - I actually thought it was obvious him going bad was going to be the "surprise" in the game; but no. Then again, it's obvious there's going to be a MW3, and he's alive, so it's still possible.

That's actually one aspect of the game that I really liked. After playing so many 'sand box' style games (and sometimes going off on my own for so long that I lose track of what the story is) it was nice to play an engaging game w/so many set pieces that just aren't possible to pull off in open world games. There were some spots where I was like "really?" but by and large I really enjoyed the short and sweet single player.

Lethal

I was playing with a group of friends tonight, and one of them got the nuke 2 matches in a row. Even better, the first match was last second and we were losing.

Owned.

Spolier talk in White:

More Spoiler

He knew Shepard had gone rogue after being in the prison because of Makarov "sp?" So letting off the EMP nuke was the only way to stop Sheppard from getting DC leveled "Operation Hammerdown" and letting him get control of the military and write his version of "History"

So, I've only played a bit of the multiplayer and can't comment on the single player, but can someone please explain giving people better abilities as they get more kills? New weapons, faster running, having a freaking missile, etc? I mean, it's the exact OPPOSITE of the "handicap" option in other games. Instead of making it harder the people who are better so everyone is more "even" it rewards the people who are doing better, increasing the gap. If I'm playing with a friend and he is beating me already, you don't need to make him faster and give him more powerful weapons, he's already winning!

Are you talking about lightweight? I dont think people get faster the more kills they get...

I don't know what the names were, everything was in German (moved to Austria and don't speak the language well enough yet). But after each mission people would do stuff to make a class or something. What they could add in was dependent on their level or rank or whatever, and that was dependent on how many people they killed. So while I would be rank 2 and not have much stuff, someone who was already winning would have rank/level/whatever 4 and access to many more options than I would.

Yeah, thats create a class. Its the rewards for doing well and playing a lot. Im a level 61, so i have much more stuff available than people below me, but as you rank up by playing, you'll eventually have the same rewards available.

Lightweight is the perk that allows you to run faster.

That just seems horribly stupid to me. Yes, I realize it's just my opinion, but I want a game where it's an even playing field. Not where some people have an advantage in what's available to them b/c they've played it longer.

I understand your opinion, but it gives you an incentive to level up and keep playing. I personally love it, and think it is very balanced.

Maybe you should try Gears of War? Everything is equal. Or Halo 3. CoD just doesnt sound right for you, seeing as MW1, MW2, and WaW all have create a class.
