Call of Duty only smooth in 1344x840?

I run COD4 on the 2.4ghz model with only 256megs of VRAM and I can assure you it does NOT lag

Resolution 1440x900
Everything on high
I turned off Bloom(to see better)
Shadows are off(pretty useless)
AA is set to off

I get around 80-90 FPS.

I play in bootcamp with windows XP


I have to use SMC fan control and bump the fans to 5500rpm or else the computer shuts down after a while.

I think whats most important is that you turn off anti-alias, I know the games sets it automatically, but its quite bad for that GPU

i hope you mean bad because it effects performance pretty sharply and not that it will hurt it

I just reread the entire thread, sorry, should have done that before posting now that I know its the monitor's fault

If you want to play the Mac version with only the external display, then put your MBP into "clamshell" mode using an external mouse and keyboard to play. This way you can play at native resolution (1920x1200) and still get good performance.
