Alderwood Mall Lynnwood WA. I was about 300 in line when I arrived at 3pm. By 6pm when I got to the head of the line the first sellout was both colors of 32GB AT&T 3G. By 6pm almost 700 people had showed up behind me. Supervisors did not think they would have any inventory left for the last 100+ in line at 6pm.

I'm at at Scottsadale, AZ store and there are only 15 of us in line right now, but it's growing fast

Would Apple tell people in line that they only have a certain amount and that they may not have any led by the time those people reach the front?

In other words if they have 200 iPads and the queue is 300 people long isn't it just mean not telling those people at the back? They could go somewhere else for one instead they may not get anything!

I was in the Apple store for other reasons yesterday when I gave my report on Perimeter Mall here in ATL.... There were Apple employees in the back counting out each of the units, and then they were going to go tell the customers and figure out which one wants what. The crappy thing is that I know they were going to run out.

--------

I'm glad I just ordered online. You guys might have gotten your iPad on launch day, but with some of the stories I've read, and from what I saw yesterday, I'd just rather wait a couple of days. I don't feel like sitting in a mall for hours, or rushing from store to store only finding out they don't have what I would have wanted, or the lines were too long. Couple of days for me is perfect.

I did ask an apple employee why they didn't do the pre-order like they did last year so us online "orderers" could get it on launch day too, and he just pointed to the line and said "Apple wanted this."

At the Apple West Site store in NYC now. They just got 32GB Wifi black (only) in stock. They are giving out vouchers also. About 60 ppl in line at the moment.

Update: They stopped the line...they run out of vouchers. They don't know when the next shipment will be in.

how fast did they sell out at Arden Fair. how early did you show up? I was thinking about going, even though I ordered mine at 1am.

Got there at 11:30 am. Unfortunately, I was too far away from the range of the Apple Store's Wi-Fi connection or I would have surfed the 'Net with my 4G iPod touch. As such, I spent the time listening to the downloaded podcasts on my iPod touch such as MacBreak Weekly, This WEEK in Google, MuggleCast and PotterCast. :)

They had a shipment come in here in Scottsdale, but they were all mostly white! WTF! Only black were 16gb wifi only. And that was with a new shipment of 150+ come in. I was 6th in line this morning but had to walk. I need 32, but would have even bought 64. Prefer wifi but would have taken 3G.

I swear, Apple's crappy launches where they restrict supply for marketing sensationalism is really annoying and makes me not want to buy their products.
