I say support Pepsi in this decision. Amazon is wayyy better then iTunes. It really really sucks at this point in time. Heck, why not boycott iTunes? Then maybe they'll change their ways.

Plus, Coke sucks, Pepsi is what it's all about. :)

Why, because Amazon gives you a choice of what to do with your music?

Because Amazon doesnt have it all locked down to where you can only access it on 5 computers and only on iPods?

Because Amazon is 256kbps compared to iTunes 128kbps?

I'd never boycott a product. Personally, I think Apple needs to drop the stupid DRM crap completely. Obviously, the record labels ARE willing to work out deals.

It was annoying as crap to have to strip all the iTunes music I bought of its craptastic DRM because I wanted to listen on more than 5 machines. Not to mention, each OS counts as a machine, EVEN if its on the SAME machine.

I guess I am lucky, I am an old man and I only own 4 devices ....

1) iMac 24" Alu
2) Macbook
3) 80G iPod Video<--- actually gonna sell this one as it was used as an external drive and I now have 250G externals
4) iPhone <--- now used as iPod as well as Phone

Oh yeah there is the Apple TV as well! :D

Oh we have other Apples here, but my kids would never put *dads'* music in their machines! :D

Exactly.

This thread is one of the reasons people look at us Mac users and think we're insane.

"Look! It's a company offering a similar product to Apple, but with more choice and at higher quality! Too bad it doesn't have an Apple logo. Now I'm forced to artificially dislike it and blindly support the Apple alternative because the sun won't rise tomorrow if I ever admit someone is doing something better than Apple."

It's nice to see the majority of posters (well, if you don't count the posts condemning soda drinkers) can see how ignorant this argument is.

Pepsi. Yes, Pepsi. I remember the days when I was young, when Pepsi and I would play in the fields and valleys, when we would skip stones at the beach. A pair of sticks became swords, and suddenly we were plunged back to the days of piratetry and gallantry, or further back to shields and dragons, an age of Arthurian combat and honour 'round the round table. As we grew older our focus shifted from games to real training, learning Ansatsuken under the tutelage of our master. We became strong! From dreaming boys came powerful men, true warriors trained in the arts of the fist, mind and body. Soon, it came to pass that I surpassed Pepsi, and Pepsi became jealous of my power.

In order to overpower me, Pepsi embraced the principal of Satsui no Hadō, training alone with poison in his heart and hate in his veins. He returned some years later, hoping to find and defeat me, but finding only our master. Enraged by our master's apparent betrayal by training me to be stronger, Pepsi engaged the old man in battle. Using his Shun Goku Satsu, Pepsi directed all of his hate forward, a dark and twisted force of demon hand and human heart. The skies grew dark, the forests grew silent.

Pepsi. When we meet again, I will have avenge our master.

Right...

I've got to say Pepsi's old "Be Young. Have Fun. Drink Pepsi." campaign was one of the best ever.

I mean, it was so stupid and shallow on the surface (drink our bottled tap water with sugar and food coloring and you'll be young again and have more fun than you're having now) but it's one of the few ads that cut out all the subtlety and just plain stated what 99% of product advertisements try to imply anyway.

I prefer Amazon above iTunes in terms of DRM, but I think they're selection is crap compared to iTunes. That being said, I've bought a few albums through Amazon MP3, and I'd love to get some free songs from them. I love Pepsi, so much better than Coke (but that debate is for another day).

I like Amazon but not for mp3s, mostly for books and the odd piece of cooking gear. I like AAC better than MP3, doesn't sound as squashed. Of course I'd rather dig up George Szell and have him conduct Beethoven symphonies right in my living room in person, but that could run me some serious money or maybe even jail time :D

As to the sodas: I like diet pepsi and loathe diet coke. At the very thought of boycotting pepsi, I went out to see if there was at least one diet pepsi still left in the fridge. Now that action is the true sign of an addict. Protecting my supply!

I love iTunes store. The layout, the whole thing, music, videos, rent/buy movies, podcasts, even their off the wall picks for me. If you buy a lot of different stuff, then their recommendations do become part of the entertainment, believe me.

Personally, I could not care less about the DRM at iTunes. I don't feel inconvenienced by it. Anyway, buying a DRM-free piece of music still does not give you a right for anything but personal use of it. I suspect that may not (yet) occur to some of the mp3 purchasers at Amazon.

Ladies and Gentlemen, read this post carefully. For it is quite possibly the best post ever made.

Buy Pepsi because they're using Amazon.

Amazon doesn't have DRM. iTunes does. Therefore, iTunes sucks and they can die in a fire.

Seriously, we should all listen to this genius "zioxide".

Jobs is laughing his ass off right now.

This "Macbook Air" name is way too big of a stretch. Just because Apple posted a banner that had the word Air in it, the new product is automatically going to be called Air? lol.

His insight and track record is phenomenal.

Let me know when iTunes gets rid of unFairPlay.

Let me know when you get something right for once.

FairPlay DRM isn't Apple's idea, it was a demand by the record labels to sign on for iTunes.

Hence the reason that Steve Jobs wrote his open letter to the public last year requesting that ALL labels drop DRM and why Apple & EFI records were the 1st to offer legal DRM free music when EFI stepped up to the plate and took SJ & Apple's challenge, which ultimately lead to the introduction of iTunes Plus DRM free content.

The only reason anyone is able to offer DRM free content at this point is because of SJ, Apple, & iTunes having gotten that ball rolling.

The fact that the labels are teaming up with other services like Amazon instead of iTunes is becuase iTunes is so dominant in the digital content download market.

how about we ditch all soft drinks and give good ole water a try again?

It quenches thirst, reduces waste, doesn't induce ADD/ADHD, and helps you lose weight.

4 birds with one stone.

but then what would people have to blame their problems on?
