I check a few times a week locally, but we don't have a Apple store here. So I am counting on the dreaded Best Buy, and MacAuthority store.

We only have a small market best buy, so no apple products other than iPods/phones. I haven't even bothered to check! At least you have another store to check! LOL!

I'm actually going to be in Orlando tomorrow for the first time since I ordered, which means I probably could buy one - as mine is shipping. Figures. But at least i know I didn't pay the extra $15 in gas for it right?

I hadn't talked myself into it at launch, so that is my excuse

Here is hoping we both have them soon, and everyone else in this backorder mess.

Same order date and I got the notice this morning too - it must have gone into junk though because I don't see it! (I have my email forwarded to my phone - so i got the short SMS version).

Wonder how mine ended up shipping? Off to hunt down the email!

presumably the USB adapter is the exact same one that was sold with the iPod Photo years ago? Would it still work?

Just bought iPad day before yesterday (8/5). Purchased camera connection kit through Apple.com yesterday around noon (8/6).

The receipt said it would ship on Aug 20, with delivery around Aug 25.

Received notification last night that it has ALREADY shipped, with delivery around Aug 12. It's on its way from China...already.

Really fast service and for anybody on the fence, they are shipping fast.

Oh and just to let people know. You can even plug in your iPhone to the iPad and import photos from that to your iPad.

I wish that the Apple.com site would offer a way to check store inventory. Considering that even Target and Walmart, as well as Best Buy and even Frys, offers this, I don't see why they can't do this.

It would make it so much easier to purchase things from there as opposed to other sources.

You can email or phone the store.

It's normally quite easy to figure out the stores email if it's not on a previous receipt you've got.

E.g. This store is on 'rosenstrasse'. The email is rosenstrasse@apple.com

The manchester trafford centre store in UK is traffordcentre@apple.com

I've called my local stores before and find that the information they give me can be spotty.

I should try the email route...but would really love to see a store inventory system on the apple.com website. Much faster and easier...and certainly not beyond the realm of possibility as so many other retailers have it.

Yeah I admit it is weird that they don't do this. I get they don't want to guarantee anything, and do it all on first come first serve.

True...especially because I am sure that some people flip out when they get to, let's say, a Best Buy store after checking the store inventory online, and then find that it was inaccurate!

Exactly. And a lot of the time with online reserve systems where you don't have to pay first, people never turn up.

I'm a big fan of the Best Buy system - you pay for it when you order it online for in store pickup. They confirm your order and tell you by email when your order is ready. You have eight days to pick up. They don't have to worry about no-shows, I don't have to worry about whether the item will be available when I get there or pay for shipping.

That's pretty much it, though, about what I like about Best Buy.
