Dear Apple - "Thinner and lighter" is great and all, but I suspect the majority of people can deal with a little extra thickness if it means you can cram in better components.

Wrong. The camera on ipad2 is for video. Who wants to take photos with a huge slab. If you are all into cramming the thing with better components then buy a xoom, good luck with that.

I tested the cameras the the Apple Store, and figure I could at least use them to sickly scan a document as I have been doing with my phone, but the quality and resolution were no good enough for that either.
I still like the iPad2 for it's Dual-Core Processor and faster Graphics, and expanded RAM, but that's about it.
I'll get an iPad2 when I can get a buyer for my iPad1. Otherwise, I'll keep waiting; I'm no longer in a rush.

Just got mine last night and was surprised that the camera is actually just as bad, maybe worse, than critics have claimed. Personally I won't be using it much so I really don't care; however, I find it bizarre that as great as everything else about the ipad is the camera can be so terrible.

Ok all...if you read my posts in this thread, I was very vocal about the camera quality on the iPad 2 despite not owning one. I was trying to give myself reasons not to buy it and this was one issue that was helping me fight the urge.

Yesterday I got an iPad 2 and honestly, I've changed my tune. The back camera is weak for stills but I've yet to have the desire to take a still picture on the device. It does shoot nice HD video, so that's cool.

I guess everyone else was right. Some things must be sacrificed to reach a certain price point, and I'm ok with the cameras being what they are. The device is all about the LED backlit IPS display. Yes, a higher ppi would be nice, but is not a must. Just as Blu-Ray on my iMac would be nice, but not a deal breaker.
