I didn’t even lineup for original iPhone on launch day. Walked in to a ATT store and walked out 10 mins later. Apple has gotten better with supply chain as they sell more and more phones.

I mentioned this to someone today about getting my hands on the iPhone 16. I have gone this long with my iPhone 14, I can wait an another week when the smoke clears and there is an enough of the iPhone 16's for everyone who wants one.

There’s enough today. I just ordered on this morning for in store pickup today. Canceling my pre order which won’t get here for another two weeks.

I once knew what it was like to feel that kind of excitement for an electronic device. Those days are long gone.

I've camped out once for the 4S coming to Sprint (this was a big deal for me).

I havn't camped out for a release since.

I have some brutal/memorable memories camping out for Black Friday and more specifically the Nintendo Wii release (if anyone remembers how impossible those were to get for the first few months)

Also i live in WI, so these were some pretty cold campouts

Camping out may be the wrong word at this point. There are still lines outside Apple Stores every single year for every single iPhone launch. They are just smaller and more organized than they were at one time. People only ever camped out because getting in line the night before was the only guaranteed way to be close enough to the front of the line to snag one the next day.

Maybe at some locations. My brother and his wife went in and picked up their 16s this morning, and there was only two people.

Not so much camping as showing up very early and getting in line. I have good memories of doing that for the iPhone 4 and the first and second-gen iPads. I don't think I've done it after that. It was fun, but today it just makes more sense to preorder and wait for it to show up at your door. You did meet some interesting people that way. I was one of the first people in the door to pick up the iPad 2 at the Oak Brook Court store in the Chicago burbs. Hearing the whole staff cheer when you walk in the door is a bit of a rush.
