how do i post something about myself? when i try to log in it says

"Your account is still awaiting admin approval." so I can't sign in. I'll give it some time. I'm eager to find out if all this will work but I can find other things to focus on in the meantime.

Thanks!
Caleb

Yes I believe so. I'll update the subject.. Ultimately what I ended up with though myself is a 2001(?) 450mhz Sawtooth G4.. and yes I got it working and Digital Performer installed.. and a MOTU 828 + MOTU Midi Express XT all working with it as well!

Good times ahead.. ordered a MOTU MTP AV USB to see if I can get it to work with the system and then network a 2nd non-usb MTP AV to give me 16 in / outs... will be a glorious thing to get everything wired up as such.

it's going that way so far! :) very very excited to get to work with this machine. Right now things are in limbo until the "new" MOTU MTP AV (USB) arrives which can be networked with my other non-usb MTP AV to give me 16 in / 16 out midi for the various synths I have (modules mostly). Once that unit arrives this week I can test in my temporary place before moving everything down into the studio for realz..

I will definitely share some stuff once i get my flow down.. for fun here's a song i did with my original G4 (with the same software) back in 2001.. the drum beat in the background is actually an Amiga 1200 slaved as an 8 bit sampler.. the guitar distortion was from PREAMP in digital performer.. i was just sending a dry electric guitar into the G4.. was so amazing as my first experience with audio plugins.. good times.. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/6999242/MP3/20 - Unknown Forces.mp3

Ah yes the 3DO :) I had that system.. Yea funny @Daniël Oosterhuis you mention that because this was music intended for a video game.. I was getting into trying to do soundtracks for video games at the time through the Half Life mod community back then. MP3's were just coming around as a format that games could tap into so the days of writing music with general midi or tracker programs was going away opening up a lot of possibilities.

Now that you mention it, I do hear quite a bit of Kelly Bailey in this! I knew there was something I was noticing when I first listened, but I just couldn't figure out what that was. Now I know :)

you're too kind :) He did do some great work on that game. I'd love to achieve quality of that level someday. This song was me using the built in 1/8" in / output of the G4 itself.. couldn't afford a proper digital interface back then given their very high price tag... so funny that the rig I have now once would have cost over $3000 new.. and i think I spent like $150 to put together what I have now thanks to CraigsList. :)
