Ok, my problem is I hate cases. They either add too much bulk, don't protect anything, collect lint, or are ugly. Oh, and I hate screen protectors even more so don't suggest those.

For those reasons I always end up using my devices naked but I really want something for my phone. Is anyone else like me and able to find a case that they can live with? Can anyone recommend a case that doesn't have most of the cons listed above?
Why are you getting a case? That might help those offering suggestions. There's a general trade-off between bulk and protection.

Ugly is highly subjective. If you don't want ugly recommendations then at least offer some suggestions of what you like and what you think are ugly. Never assume your particular preferences to be universal.

i'm using bestskinsever back/front screen protector + griffin frame. bought a few cases but they ruin the phone

From what it sounds like you want I'd say either go with a sleeve/pouch or an aluminum bumper. Sleeve would give you some protection when it's actually in the sleeve..

I think the aluminum bumper would suit you best as its mild protection and very minimal (depending on which one you choose). I like the e13ctron cases. Or the Deff Cleve, but the Element cases are pretty popular around here..

Have you considered the Sena Ultraslim? It protects your phone while transiting around, but allows you to use it naked...

Hey, are you trying to steal my ideas!? (See Post#16)

Obviously, I commend you for your excellent choice of case. No bulk, no scratches, no lint - and you can use your beautiful phone naked. :)

But next time you steal my (oh, so minimal) thunder - we'll have words!;) :D

I want a case that covers the back so I can stop cleaning it. So, no bumpers or pouch. I'm broadening my size, since I'm getting a case I might as well get one that can take a drop. My idea of pretty is minimilastic.

Again, today I am picking up an incase hybrid cover. I like the two tone black and since the bottom is plastic I don't have to worry about the bottom sagging like other tpu cases. The only downside is the thickness and the fact that no one has this case to give me their opinion on it.

According to the Glide website, their product does work with skins... I'll let you know as soon as I get both.

I ADORE the look of the glide case, however, I'm concerned it won't work with skins... the website says it'll work with screen protectors 0.2mm and thinner, but a lot of the skins that are leather or carbon fiber or brushed aluminum have to be thicker than that, 0.2mm is incredibly thin, basically just clear screen protectors would pass that guideline. Please let us know how it works out.

Change of plans. I decided to get over my hatred of bulk after holding a chunky case and liking the feel more. So, I ordered a speck candy shell. It seems like the perfect hybrid.

Hahaha, I originally found this thread and thought, "yes! Someone who feels the same about cases as I do, let's see what people say!" And in the end, you go for a super chunky case that was on my "no way" list from the first time I laid eyes on one long before I ever was in the market for an iPhone case.

Oh well... let's keep this thread going for good suggestions on small but protective cases for case haters!!

Feel free to keep it going. I'm not a one case kinda guy and in a month or two I will have one of every type. (bumper, pouch, slim, big)

I'm going big case right now mostly because I dropped my phone from 6 feet today. I caught it with my foot, good thing I was wearing soft slippers.

I prefer my phone naked as well but I DO suggest a screenprotector. I hated screenprotectors as well but discovered it's because whatever cheap one's you get from the Verizon store or for free with case purchases are crazp. I got a matte finish PowerSupport and feel it increases the performance of the phone, especially if you do a good amount of gaming on it.

I agree with PowerSupport screen protectors. I got the crystal clear protector and I can't even tell its there. I have a Lucky Labs skin for the back.

I hate cases too. I don't have drop protection but I have scratch protection.

Incase Snap Frost, Marware MicroShell, Incipio Feather, Incipio NGP, Apple Bumper, or maybe just go naked a leather sleeve (preferably the Sena brand).

I was the same way with my iPhone 4.. struggled for months to find a case I could live with and then ended up going caseless for a full year. When I got my iPhone 4S I decided I was going to try a case again. I ended up settling on a Switcheasy Capsule Rebel and actually stumbled upon using a Otterbox screen protector. I ended up ordering two capsule rebels (a white and black one) and mixed the pieces.. the case is so damn tight fitting, but yet so protective.. I really love it. Plus I get compliments on the looks of the mixed white/black pieces. When I told my iPhone 4 I rounded up all the cases I had tried and got rid of them at the same time, but I decided that I wanted to try out the various screen protectors that were included with some of the cases. Turns out the screen protectors included with an Otterbox Impact and Commuter are freaking perfect! I put one on my iPhone 4S and literally you can't even tell its there, but yet its freaking protective! Not a single bubble, not a single newton ring, not a single issue with it. I couldn't be happier with my ultimate combination.

Good Day!

Have a great research of Macbook Covers.

God bless you

Best slim minimalistic case - Sonix Snap Case.

I've tried over 10 different cases and this is my overall favorite hands down.

I had the Speck and gave it away this past weekend. Not a bad case design but it is definitely bulky and the material scratches if you even look at it.

It's already been suggested with a different manufacturer, but do consider a pouch. Best of both worlds. You can keep the phone in your pocket safe from pocket-dust and scratches and still use a naked iPhone. It does offer some protection. Been using mine since early in my iPhone ownership and the phone is still in great shape even with a few drops.

I have a leather one from iKonicEdge. $45 includes shipping from New Zealand. I have one for my 3Gs and will have one for my 4s when I get off my butt and order one. Comes in 4 colors. Same caveat as the Sena. VERY snug at first but it loosens up in a few days. EDIT - got the new one yesterday (11/23). It's not nearly as snug as a new 3Gs one was. Looks like a lot less breaking in time, maybe three days instead of 10.

Do you know whether the glide will fit with the slickwrap on?

Finally received The Glide today. I have the slick wrap back and sides (not the front) on the 4s and there was no problem fitting the glide on over them. To me, this is the perfect solution. I can barely tell that there is a bumper on the phone - but my grip is ever so slightly better.

No way! That is one of the fugliest cases out there! You are in serious need of a case intervention! :D

How does the Glide work with screen protectors? I love the feel of the iPhone 4, but want the protection of a case and the Glide seems like my best option but I also would like to use a screen protector and back protector.

I don't have a screen protector - just the slickwrap back and side skin. The way the Glide fits onto the phone though, I don't think there would be a problem with adding a screen protector to the combo.

Just an fyi - I do believe there is minor signal loss with this case on my 4s. I only notice it in my house where before I only had 1 bar. Now it seems to search for a signal more than it used to. Outside in normal conditions, I haven't noticed a problem.

Glide signal loss

Now I'm bummed with the signal loss. Spent the last couple of days in an area where my wife's iphone 4 consistently had 3 bars while mine hovered between 1 bar and the edge network. Took the Glide off and bars back up to 3. Unfortunately I'm going to have to give the Glide a negative review in spite of it's aesthetic appeal. I'm returning it.
