I'm going to post that as of 09:37PM 8/4, you were at exactly 10259.96mb down and 202.76mb up. Hopefully an ATT rep is scouring this forum and will be able to pin this on you.

Anyway, Gordon Ramsay sucks *******s. Is that really what you spent 10GB downloading? I hope your phone overheats and turns into flambe for you and Gordon Ramsay to roast marshmallow over.

You seriously need a life:rolleyes:
Who cares what shows he likes, how old are you 12?

My Internet was down and I downloaded a bunch of TV shows to last me til I get my new modem. Can't miss my weekly Gordon Ramsay shows.

But anyways if they see my jump from 1.3gb to ~12gb, can they prove that I tethered using MyWi, or am I pretty secure saying "I streamed a bunch of shows off the Internet".

I believe that would be a breach of the TOS which would make you eligible for termination .

No, he's not breaching the contract.

You must live with your parents.

By your twisted logic, it's perfectly ok to steal from rich people because they have so much money.

you are distorting my argument, and no i dont live with my parents. im guessing you are poor and bitter about that for some reason.

OP you are being really stupid about this

You might get away with it for a few months, but the moment someone notices you're using that much data it's going to send red flags
Lets see whats a good metaphor for this.

You wouldn't use a vuvuzela when sneak around a sleeping security guard, you would want to tip toe so as to not raise any unneeded attention.

btw the jailbreak was just recently released, how in the hell did you use 10gb's. Im at 178mb down/ 8.3mb down since sunday.

sLast month on one of my lines, I used up 13.5GB just from downloading TV shows alone, none from tethering.

I have been doing this for the past year but I would usually only use up about 5-10GB. This month was so high because I wanted to see how much data I could actually use. I could have used allot more but There just aren't that many TV shows each week I buy. I was even downloading video podcasts to help boost the usage.

In one year though, AT&T has never warned me on my usage and I know there are people who use even more data than me so I don't think tethering would ever be a problem.

The unlimited data plan with a 5gb soft cap...

Ahh yes, the good ole' fake 5GB soft cap theory. It's been awhile since I've heard it around these parts

If I ever get knicked, I'm just going to go with the old "I stream Sirius" theory. I used to hit about 8-9GB per month just by streaming it daily at work, during the drive home, then turn off wifi at home and keep streaming :)

If there were such a cap in place, we would have heard about it long ago. Some of use go way over that 5GB per month and have been doing so for at least a year with no warning. It is truly unlimited.

I know that uninformed guy Leo Laporte still says there is a 5Gb cap on the iPhone plan but he is clueless on a lot of things.

you buy TV shows?

how much do you spend? just curious because my Time warner cable bill is $130 a month and that's cable, DVR, cable internet and telephone service

LOL and I was paranoid about making a few facetime calls over 3g..... I guess I probably don't have anything to worry about.

I periodically dial *DATA# on my phone to see how much data ive used and I always keep it under 5 GB/month. Most the of the actual bytes I use are probably watching baseball over 3G with mlb at bat 2010 so I don't think that a few hundred megs of tethering a month will be a big deal to ATT. 10 gigs down though? You're pretty much asking to get pwned.

Then again, I've yet to read someone here crying about how they got busted tethering....

I currently have the unlimited plan with my iPhone 4 and plan to use it to it's fullest extent, and really don't want to be limited to 2GB and then pay another $25 to tether, but can AT&T find out?

Don't need them finding this out:

My Goal is to beat you in Data Usage OP!

No it's not right to steal from the rich, but it certainly is ok to swindle them as it is clearly ok for them to swindle the rest of us. Just being rich in this days and time implies that a certain amount of theft took place in one form or another.....

except when you are *poor* then everyone is by comparison *rich* even if the only difference is hard work and dedication sprinkled with personal accountability and self restraint.

and a little sprinkle of lobbying, profit making at the expense of others, and of course... tax evasion

The 5GB soft cap is a policy that is not enforced by the network. It is rarely acted on unless you are exceeding it on very congested towers. Even in those rare cases they usually just ask you to cut back.

The 2GB cap is enforced via your bill at $10 per 1G over the cap.

And finally; yes, AT&T does know if you are tethering with MyWi. Packet header analysis shows that the data is routing through your phone to another device. They are monitoring this and logging tethering usage. As of now they are not acting on this information.

and of course... tax evasion

Like John Kerry and his new sailboat. Or the Kennedys who inherited their wealth from their father. Why care about raising the income tax rates when, according to the IRS, you don't have any earned income.

Or the MNCs... And Steve Jobs.... and other rich people? Thanks for proving my point

This must be the day for people missing the point. Steve Jobs earned his money, John Kerry and the Kennedys did not.

"Earned" their money or not, tax evasion is wrong.... There are millions of ways for people to justify their action but the law is the law. Regarding the other part, well that's your opinion, you are entitled to that... but you're NOT entitled to your own facts.

By the way let's stop this political back and forth as it doesn't fit in this forum. There are better avenues where we can debate ;)

I agree, let's stop this discussion where the producers are bashed and the leeches are praised.
