I had to put my iPhone on and off into silent mode using the switch about 20 times fast and continuously for a reason, the switch works as it should but can this have weakened something inside? Something that would make it break quicker?

I’ve used my switch 2-3 times a day for the last 3+ years on my X and it still works as designed. I’d say your phone is just fine

The mute switch on my Xs broke. It defaulted to off, so yeah, it can break. It was a bad component in an otherwise great device. I suggest you be mindful of how you use your device(s). The mute switch is not a fidget spinner.

You had to toggle your phone in and out of silent mode using the the switch around 20 times quickly for a reason!

What was that reason? I'm intrigued.
