I have all of that.. I'm just worried that they might need my mom (she's going to be working) and her credit card ><... I should have just used my debit card instead >< lol..

Have anyone done this before? Having them exchange the old model for a new one without fees?

If there is any difference in price they may need the original card. I had that happen once for a MacBook that I bought for my wife using my debit card, but she was returning for a different model. She wasn't able to return it and I had to come to the store to complete the exchange. YMMWV.

How would there be a price difference on mine? I paid $1499.00 + 8.25% tax and $8 CA fee for mine. The new one is the same price..

If there is a price difference you can pay it; if it's less than your older machine, it will go back on the original card… you just need to forge you mother's signature. For the latter you will need to talk to the manager about that.

I was able to return something to my friend's card by talking to the manager. Sure I actually used my signature…

When I walk into the Apple Store with my MBP.. what do I say to the employees? lol

I bought the MBP 13 on 3/23/10.. The top end model for the 13" which has 2.53 GHz CPU and 4GB RAM. I swapped out the HDD to SSD also. I was wondering since the new one is out, can I ask apple for an exchange or that's not possible?

When I was in the store buying my new one, on the 14th, a guy came in with his which was a few weeks old and they didn't charge him a restocking fee. Not sure if it was more than the 14 days old, though.

Mine was bought on 3/23.. and now it's 4/17 (tomorrow 4/18), which makes it 26 days old already..

Argh... I'm scared of going to the apple store and asking for an exchange.... I'm worried that if they will let me exchange it, they might charge me a restocking fee.

3 weeks ago I was getting impatient and about to buy a MBP. I asked an employee at the Stanford Apple Store whether they'll accept a return if a new MBP came out shortly after my purchase. The answer I got was absolutely not if it was after 14 days and they would charge me a restocking fee if it happened prior to the 14 days. Perhaps he was trying to discourage me from buying something and returning it. I didn't want to be in your shoes so I waited.

ugh.. :(..

You'll be LUCKY to get an exchange WITH a restocking fee. Getting one without paying a restocking fee would be downright awesome. The standard policy is that they'll exchange it within 14 days if you pay a 10% restocking fee. If there's a change in price of the model level, they refund the difference.

There have been cases of people being able to get an exchange without paying the restocking fee and also cases of people getting in on the 30 day window, but it's definitely not standard policy.

I personally have done an exchange within the 14 day window and paid a restocking fee.

I walked out and got a 2.66 without paying any fees :D..

I just plugged my SSD in with my old Mac OS X from my previous system. It boots up but I was wondering do I need to reinstall the Operating System?

question.. I gave them my MBP.. but I didn't erase all my data.. what would they do with the data I left on it? =X
