They will just charge you or they will charge your parents...or whoever is paying the bill....You are using an iphone and not paying for iphone data plan....

Believe me...if you could get a way than others could have....but the thing is they didn't....or else everyone would be on the same boat as you....

Let's put it this way....when the person who gets the bill and notice there has been an overcharge...I hope you'll be able to explain why....because AT&T is out to make money and they will make money on you for not following AT&T contract of use on their network....even if you don't have an iphone contract...contract of agreement on using their wireless network....you might want to read that....

IF it works more power to you....just know it won't and it's might cost you....

Medianet on iPhone 3g

Reading these posts I have a few questions. I have heard that on the 2g you can change the IMEI number on the phone. Can this be done on the 3G or 3Gs (yet)? Second, I put my sim card from my RAZR2 V9 in a friends unlocked iPhone and I got a message that I did not have a compatible data plan. I have unlimited Medianet. Is there a setting that needs to be changed? I am looking to buy the iPhone 3Gs but, I am not real happy about paying more for the same internet access.

Thanks,

Scott

been using the MediaNet unlimited plan on my iPhone, iphone3g, iPhone 3gs for about 2.5 years and yes ive been getting msgs from AT&T about switching it to the $30 data plan. The bottom line is you CAN do this but AT&T can always catch on to your account and start monitoring it. They DO know what phone you have no matter what IMEI number you give them. I do think its worth a try because i did save a crap-load of money by doing it. I know I did it (not on AT&T anymore) and plenty of other people I know are doing it.

I purchased an original iPhone from Apple about 6 months after it was released, opted for the Pay-As-You-Go plan which included the $20 unlimited medianet/iPhone plan for data. About 6+ months ago (when 3G came available in my area) I bought a 3G iPhone from someone I knew (for $100) and popped in the simcard from my original iPhone and everything (including 3G) works great.

I'm enjoying the savings and partly why I didn't upgrade to the 3GS. However, due to some unfortunate accidents I will need a replacement iPhone and I don't know anyone selling a 3GS (for cheap), so I hope that my screen will hold out for another month when I will upgrade and bind my soul to AT&T and the 4th Generation iPhone.

So yes, it is possible if you are grandfathered in. I would recommend adding the plan to your account, purchasing the iPhone and just swapping the Sims (don't call AT&T unless something doesn't work).

I receieved messages regarding upgrading my plan/getting a post-pay account when I was using my old iPhone, but I haven't received any since swapping to the 3G.
