Quick question, I want to upgrade the RAM to 4gb, could someone direct me to some good / well priced 4gb of RAM? Thanks

Also, can it support DDR3 or does it only support DDR2 (sorry if wrong acronym 😛)

I'm 99% sure that it'll use DDR3 (as all the other updtaed Macs).

Buy it from Crucial, it's easiest and prices are good
 
I dont think it does support DDR3 as on crucial I did a search for RAM and it did not mention DDR3 anywhere..Shame, what is the difference between DDR3 and DDR2

Oh, my mistake, so you are buying existing model? That supports only 800MHz DDR2 memory.

DDR3 has faster bus speed so it's faster, but costs more. In your use you won't notice any difference.

What model did you buy?

The current iMacs use DDR2 RAM currently, and Crucial is the best place to go I think anyway 😱
 
Oh ok..I bought the 2.66, oh also that is cool 🙂

Anyone got any thing to say that wont make me feel bad about ordering now and ordering that model (so far you are doing well 🙂)

Nothing wrong with what you ordered because only you know if it'll do the jobs you want it to well, like I said before you really should've held off till the end of today to buy it though.
 
I ordered mine last night, refurbished 24". Definitely worth it. I won't notice the speed bumps in my useage, and I probably wouldn't be able to afford a 24" new model anyway. 🙂

Ok, so for when it does arrive, what do you recommend I buy, I plan on buying 4gb of RAM from crucial and an exteranl drive.. What software, VMWare or Parralels, anything you would suggest?
 
I have a 2.4GHz 20" aluminum iMac I got in September. Upgraded it to 2x2gb DDR2 800mhz ram from the original 1gig. It was either Kingston or Crucial brand, I forget. But I got it off Newegg and there is a HUGE difference with the extra ram. It's barely ever sluggish anymore.

I tried both Parallels and VMWare Fusion, I think I can safely say Fusion is the better choice.
 
I have just got my iMac in the post, and I am re installing lepoard, should I have formatted the hard drive first?
