I cant run a 4G by itself. If I run it with 4G and 1G it works fine. I tried all combinations with the 4G and 1G. (Example slot 1 had 4G slot 2 had 1G then swapped it so slot 1 had 1G and slot 2 had 4G) Works fine both ways. I also did this with both the 4G sticks to insure they were working. The computer is showing 5G with the 4G and 1G installed.
Could you answer these questions:
1. Does it work with a single 4GB stick inside?
2. Does it work with the other single 4GB stick inside?
3. Does it work with a single 4GB and the 1GB stick?
4. Does it work with the other 4GB stick and the 1GB stick?
If the answers to question 1 and 2 are no - it really looks like the new 4GB RAM is incompatible to some extent. As to why the Mac recognises everything when another 1GB is in there, I'm lost!
I know you've already answered 3, but for the sake of information for this thread...
What RAM did you get? Did you buy from Crucial, or just use their site for information?
